Assuming against Floyd in his physical prime, no. Floyd takes a very very wide UD. Mayorga was schooled by Cory Spinks for Christ Sake.
It wasn't a schooling, it was a fairly competitive fight. Im not sure pnf wins this easy, he had lot.of trouble woth maidna swarming style, and i think el matador was a bit better than chino
I think Floyd wins going away. Outside of Forrest, Mayorga lost to basically everyone elite he fought. I don't see how he'd get past 07' Floyd's jab to the body, and if he did, I don't see what he'd do before Floyd was gone.
Mayorga doesn't put on enough consistent pressure to bother Mayweather. Somebody like Margarito would have been a harder day at the office for Floyd. Because Mayorga was so reckless and unorthodox i could see him surprising Mayweather with a good shot a time or two but that would be the extent of his success.
I don't know, pbf had a lot of trouble against swarmers. And Mayorga was a really good one. And im not sure he has the power to tame him a la dlh/trinidad
Mayweather was just better. I'd agree that Mayorga had the right style to cause problems but I don't think he's good enough to do it. I know Maidana did but that was a really old Floyd, and Castillo did but IMO Mayorga was a step below him. MTF
I agree with this. Mayorga's approach is correct, but his execution isn't good enough. Those wild swings wouldn't have much chance of landing. If he was better fighting inside (like Hatton but stronger), then I could see it. Also, although the point about Mayweather not being a big puncher is a relevant one, I think Floyd is a bit underrated there. He had enough pop to keep (young) Canelo from coming, and a guy with Floyd's footwork is difficult to attack anyway. Although Mayorga had a superb chin, being left out of balance and getting whacked by a snappy counter time and time again wouldn't be fun for him either
