The only Shibata fight I've seen was against Saldivar, and obviously that was a shell of the prime Saldivar. What's another fight I should check out from him?
You haven't seen the Marcel fight? It's really good IMO. Definitely worth a watch. Cruz showed his explosiveness. And Villaflor I & II. One unbelievable performance and the other is a devastating first round loss. Those two fights basically sum up his career IMO. Brilliant when he gets into his groove, but if he doesn't, anyone can knock him out. Ben was a real big puncher though TBF. You'll have then seen as much as I have.
I take it back! That's two fights. I have seen the Marcel fight. Along with Marcel versus Arguello, Gomez, and Duran (wish there was more). For what it's worth, Antonio Gomez was really underrated. Have you ever seen his destruction of Shozo Saijo?
I have indeed. I know Me and Tin use this comparison quite a bit, but I think he's solidly on the level of Marquez, Barrera & Morales. Wins over any version of DeJesus and Cervantes is impressive. Also, Shozo is a very fun fighter in his own right. Yeah, I've seen every filmed Marcel fight too. My #2 H2H FW after Henry Armstrong.
I think Marquez, Morales, and Barrera are all overrated, so sure, I have no issue with that comparison. Maybe a Gomez vs Esparragoza matchup then? Those are the two best featherweights from Venezuela.
Sure. I find all overrated and underrated, depending on who you talk to. Especially in certain aspects. For example, Morales' defence and skills are quite underrated IMO, but his power is very overrated. Barrera's style is just completely misunderstood IMO. It's like some people didn't even watch him. I think I'd probably take Gomez, but I'm completely on the fence there. That's a good fight. Really shows how good Marcel was though. Thoroughly outclassing a guy on that level, TWICE.
