Thank you for answering this matchup. 90% of this forum has turned into posters who talk about the same 10-20 fighters in history over and over again. I'd like to post more Mythical Matchups like this one, and maybe you can be the one to answer them.
I like Hernandez in this one. But I don't have much in the way of justification other than that I've always been a Chicanito fan.
I have seen a lot of Hernandez, at the Forum seeing him fight and at gyms and he was a class guy. Mitchell, I have only seen the two Lopez fights. In my opinion, Hernandez should win this fight. He had the reach and height advantages and knew how to use them. In addition he was a sharp body puncher and worked his uppercut well inside. With Hernandez there is always a caveat... His hands. In many of his fights you will see him come out punching sharp then start moving and poking out his punches. In almost every case his early lead and boxing skills carried the day. Could Mitchell capitalize on this situation?
Good post. Here's a good Mitchell fight to watch, with Jim McDonnell: McDonnell hangs tough, but is ultimately outclassed, especially down the stretch.
I like the way Mitchell fights and I bet that, if you talk to the guys he fought, you would hear a lot of "he looks easy to hit but it is harder than it looks."
