Id pick kovy to eventually ko him. Though ill say that years of seeing roy getting koed by scrubs might have resulted in me underrating him,
I think the years of watching Roy get KO'd by scrubs has skewed perception, and a lot of yall are beginning to forget how good he was.
See....this is the problem with Jones fighting on and on as I had mentioned before. With every loss his legacy suffers even more. Had Jones retired after Ruiz or even after the 2nd Tarver fight, no one would pick Kovalev to beat a prime Jones. But now, I can't really blame you for your position, because I also have doubts about his chin. Kovalev would be far and away the most dangerous guy that prime Jones ever faced. Correct me if I'm wrong but did Jones ever face a big puncher at Lightheavyweight that was also a talented boxer?
With Kovalev's power him winning certainly isn't impossible but i think he's just too patient for Roy.
Same. But I mean, he'd have to DESTROY Ward for me to give it serious thought versus prime Jones. I dunno about Kov-Ward right now. I wanna see how Ward looks against Barrera in March. By time the fight comes around in the fall, I might actually pick Ward. But as this moment, I'm still favoring Kov.
If Roy can find a way to control the fight without exposing himself to danger, then he wins. But I wouldn't have confidence in his ability to do a Ward and accept punishment in order to wear down Kova, if the fight were to come to that.
Yeah, it's official... you're a pretty big Jones hater. Roy would light Kov up. Its not Jones' willingness to accept punishment here that should be questioned... Kov is the one here who lacks heart.
Nonsense, you can find every bit as much a basis to question Roy's toughness or heart as you could Kova's.
Oh really? I dont recall Roy mentally bitching up in his biggest fight like Kov did in the Ward rematch. I dont recall Jones taking an arguable dive like Kov did against Canelo. Jones is the more proven of the two with the considerably deeper resume of wins. The styles also favor Jones big time. Even the homeless man's, pathetic impersonation of Jones in Pascal was touching up a prime Kov before getting stopped. All evidence we have points to Kov being unable to handle Jones' speed and firepower. We also know that Kov is notoriously weak to the body, which opens up another avenue for a Jones stoppage. To favor Kov over Jones is next level Jones hate.
So you didn't see the 3rd Tarver fight then, or are you arguing that that was anything other than a flagrant dive? I never said I made Kova the favorite. (Ironically, there were earlier posters who did make him the fave, and you took a lot less issue with them when they did so.)
Kov has since been exposed since this thread was first started, and I never picked him to begin with.. Kov didn't have the heart to walk through Roy's fire. Hell, he even showed a 200-year-old Hopkins too much respect. If he tried to get aggressive, he'd get nailed with counters with a speed and power that he's never felt before, and all evidence points to his chin not holding up to Roy's power. Two different leagues of fighters, and Kov doesn't even have the style to overcome that big gap.
