Betterbiev is too big for Canelo. Dont really see the point of that fight.

The issue isn't size. Canelo could beat a big light heavyweight that lacks ability.

The issue is sized combined with Beterbiev's power, and offensive skills.

Plus, unlike Golovkin, Beterbiev doesn't give a fuck out there. He would be willing to walk through Canelo to take him out.

But in time, and Beterbiev will age and become vulnerable. When he does, Canelo might come a knockin.

    excellent post,
although Wilder and Joshua being compared to Bowe and Frazier is a HUGE difference as compared to Canelo vs some of the mexican fighters on this list

Size is always an issue. There's a reason why there's weightclass in boxing

Let me see this Canelo guy fighting every 6-8 weeks, short notice, without the BALCO, against guys who are coming to die or win.

Going a bit off topic, but while he was the more popular by far, I'm not sure Chavez should be ranked nb 1.

I guess Sanchez has a good argument. Beat conclusively two ATG. I think these wins are better than any Chavez has

We have to rebember that for all the flack that we give Canelo for the favoritism he receives, Chavez was almost as bad

I was actually just fucking with you.

Sanchez isn't absurd as the Mex GOAT.

Many also feel Olivares deserves the title.

Sanchez, Olivares, and Saldivar all compiled highly impressive resumes in a very short span.

What JCC has over them is a rather large edge in longevity and consistency.

To Sal's credit though, the Gomez win is better than the Rosario win, and Sal actually beat Laporte a lot more impressively than Chavez did.

    JCC is legend
I was not really serious in Canelo surpassing him yet but Canelo is a very good fighter and IMO has an IMPRESSIVE run already. Lets see what happens next

I don't think the GGG fight is relevant anymore.. I actually think GGG should fight Charlo, he might be able to LEVEL Charlo and then he should retire!

Canelo should WHUP some more asses in the next couple of years

Canelo is 30 years old and in his prime. His career is not over. So I agree it's a bit premature to say he's better than Chavez Sr. Or Sanchez. But I think when it's all said and done he will be the best of his generation. Obviously Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquio are arguably the best of their generation. But when you compare Canelo to his peers like Errol Spence, Danny Garcia, Charlo and Lomachenko Canelo without a doubt has a better resume.

There are question marks and blemishes on his record.

    The cons

    -The steriod allegations
    -The catch weights
    -Fighting greats past their primes
-Not fighting the very best champion @ the weight class. (Rocky Fielding, Past his Prime Cotto, avoiding Charlo at 160).

    The pros

-has fought the who's who of boxing at only 30
-Doesn't get enough credit for beating Kovalev. Granted Kova is past his prime but still impressive.
-Constantly improving. His defense is getting better. He is looking like the matrix with his head movement. The reason his opponents hesitate to throw punches.

Thats a great fight. They did ask Canelo about fighting Spence and Charlo and he seems to be more interested in chasing after straps at 168. I think Charlo would give Canelo the toughest fight of his career. But I dont believe Charlo wants to move up. He already "allegedly" turned down a fight with Canelo for 10 mil.

He's in his prime. got the size of a real mw. Has the power to hurt Canelo. The youth. I just think its a 50/50 fight.

No way in Hell is Canelo-Charlo 50-50.

Jermall isn't without a chance, but he's a pretty significant underdog. The only certainty is that he'll put up a better fight than Smith... I have my doubts that he wins.

I would controversially say that Plant has a better chance than Charlo.

Benavidez has the best chance of anybody from 160-168 of beating Canelo.

I think Canelo beats seven shades of shit out of both.

Honestly, outside of Benavidez (who I don't think will even bother to make 168 again), I think Derevyanchenko actually does best against Canelo. His workrate in the late rounds, and forcing Canelo to fight at his pace without worry for his counters (if he wasn't wary of Charlo's and GGG's, he won't be of Canelo's) then I think Bronceada will be struggling in the late rounds.

I'd only pick Bivol and Beterbiev to beat him below CW. Maybe Johnson, but that's just because I love the guy.

The hope at 168 now lies with Berlanga. Please, please, please, dont be a fraud.
