This thread is dedicated to discussing any fight/fights you just watched. Separate from the scorecard thread, as scoring isn't necessary here. Just state which fight you just watched, and some brief (or in-depth) thoughts.

I just watched:

Hideki Todaka v. Yokthai Sithoar

My first time viewing.

For the WBA superfly title in I wanna say 2000.

JESUS H. CHRIST what a brutal war! Todaka had a vicious, aggressive style, although lacking the devastating power at the weight of a Moon.

Highly recommend watching this one.

Todaka used to train at la boxing club. The legend leo gamez beat the fuck outta him

 

Gamez was indeed a great fighter, and part of a long list of guys who deserve the Hall and will probably never make it.

 

I'm just watching Lujan-Davilla, and tbh, I'm not as wowed as I expected to be.

 

It was a good 6 years ago or so that I saw it. I remember enjoying it as a technical chessmatch. Still be awesome if you upload it so I can give it a second viewing.

Lujan is a guy who peaked in his title winning effort. He was never again as sharp, and as good as he was in taking apart Zamora, but he was excellent against Zamora.

Yes, and I'm pissed as Hell that their first fight is no longer on YouTube. It used to be.

I tried to buy it, but I can't find it anywhere. So thank you to the asshole who had a rare copy, and decided to take it down.

Davila put on a clinic in their first fight.

I've seen the Duarte rematch. Very fun fight as I recall.

 

And every Zamora fight is a war. He's one of the most entertaining BWs ever IMO.

 

The first was a virtuoso beatdown in favor of Davila.

 

Done with Watanabe vs Chul Ho Kim.

First time I watched this one I was just enjoying in, taking it in, learning more about Watanabe and Kim. This time, I got a better sense of the outcome.

I had Watanabe winning. He landed by far the cleaner, more accurate shots throughout, but the only reason it was even close in the first place is because he fought Kim's fight. The fight was in South Korea anyway, so you knew a close fight was gonna favor Kim.

Kim was quite underrated, and very good, but Watanabe was green. Had Kim faced the Watanabe of about a year later, he gets dismantled.

So, essentially I think Watanabe's only loss came at the hands of Roman.

 

Man, Xplosive. I have to disagree that these two looked great in there. I'm about ten rounds in, and I'm completely unimpressed with both. Sure, the skill level is high, but both look like they've
had trouble with weight, or that they're giving too much respect. Lujan especially looks like Pedroza did vs Lockridge. Flat.

Although, it is a good fight to practice scoring. Very difficult so far, after ten I have it: 95/94.

For those of you talking about Alfonso Zamora fights, you have to check out his bout with Eddie 'Motorboat' Logan. Wow!

 

As soon as posted that, I carried on and the eleventh and twelfth rounds were brilliant

Like I said, both men are showing their skills. Neither are showing too much talent though, despite both having it in abundance. And neither were throwing too much. I just feel like it's a flat, or poor performance from both.

But hey, I'll definitely still upload, it's just took half an hour to heat up

 

I've never seen that one. Had to BoxRec it. I quite like Zamora, not sure if I wanna watch a shot version of him get stopped by a journeyman.

I rewatched Zamora's destruction of Soo-Hwan Hong last week (their first fight). Zamora very much looked Olivares-esque in that fight.

I put up a Zamora vs Moon Mythical Matchup last week. I love both, but I still maintain that it ends badly for Moon given Zamora's wicked power.

I rewatched Galaxy vs Monserrat last night.

That fight probably shows him at his most devastating.

Freakish power.

 

I'm watching Sammy Serrano vs Battlehawk Kazama right now, thinking to myself that it's very good for Serrano's health that he never fought Arguello.

 

I wanna get a good grip of Galaxy, after all the mentions of him here. I think I've seen about 12 rounds from him in total. Hardly enough to understand him as a fighter.

 

In a Puerto Rican era where you had Benitez and Gomez at their peaks, then you had....

Sammy Serrano.

Serrano would have gotten battered by Escalera, let alone Arguello.

 

Yeah, Serrano was always lucky he didn't fight Arguello. I've always read he took a real pasting from Marcel, though. SD was bullshit as I recall.

 

Way more skilled than his detractors give him credit for.

Moreover, I think he had an extremely high ring IQ for a puncher.

 

Khaosai has very good balance. Outside of his tiny-Foreman type power, that's what stood out to me. Always in position to punch with full force, always above his hips, and always ready to squat and set into an extremely low centre of gravity.

Probably more nuance I missed in the poor quality of the Kim and Contreras fights. Looking forward to watching him actually.

Always like to have an open mind before watching a guy.

 

I would imagine Marcel owned him without having to go into second gear.

 

Same, although I actually think Marcel is the second best FW ever. After Armstrong.

I think very highly of him.

 

He's a H2H beast.

Marcel was more talented than Pedroza.

Overall, more complete than Laguna, although, he wasn't as blindingly fast as Laguna.
