Has Canelo right now surpassed JCC as best Mexican?

    Derevenchenko is EXTREMELY overrated.

He's been owned by Jacobs and Charlo. I give him no chance whatsoever against Canelo.

He only gave Golov Hell because Golov is a far cry what he was 5 years ago.

Lok is way closer to being correct than THIS...
Goodness grief you actually picked Smith over Canelo, thats extreme bias, and this post is no different. Canelo at this point has THE best resume of anybody just mentioned there, and just the lone defeat, clear but not a blowout and certainly not close to a ‘beating’ - to easily one of the greatest fighters of all time.

    Not a blowout defeat?

    I had Floyd winning 11-1.

    Thats pretty goddamn blowout-ish.

And no LOK, there is not a "lone" defeat. The man has 2 clear loses.

Golov beat him in the first fight by a VERY clear margin.

You could argue he has 4 losses.

    What's the fourth loss? Trout?

Canelo did not lose that fight

    Trout
    Lara
    GGG I
    GGG II
    Mayweather

    He arguably lost all five.

    No, JOM.

Definitely lost = Floyd, Golov 1.

Arguably lost = Lara, Golov 2.

I had Canelo 7-5 over Trout.

    BUT....

Without the corrupt ass open scoring that prompted Trout to lose his gameplan, he might have easily swung a few rounds.

I think Canelo should have 2-3 losses but I don't think it is that big of a deal. Guys like Henry Armstrong have shitloads of early losses and they mean nothing.

The sport has changed some of course but since we criticize fighters for "protecting the 0", then pointing out each and every loss doesn't fit in

So far he looks scary af. What is it 15 1st rd kos?

Having said that I'm like you always a little skeptical about up and coming young talent. How will he handle adversity when he faces a seasoned fighter who can take his punch and fight back. Does he have the heart and chin? So many questions about this kid. Hope he's the goods though. The sport needs an exciting guy like that.

    Yes, we can only hope.

Something has to stop the Canelo hype train.

In a recent interview Benevides was asked about Berlanga's open challange to him. He said he would be willing to fight Berlanga. He thinks it's a great Mexico vs Puerto Rico rivalry. I agree both guys are fearless warriors. Both can bang so you know there would be fireworks. But it did seem like Benevides was lowkey hating on up and coming Puerto Rican star Berlanga saying its easy to ko "pendejos". Claims him and his 147lbs brother both knocked out one of Berlanga's recent opponents (Bellows) during sparring when David was only 15. Berlanga calls out Benevides and Benevides accepted the fight. You know we can expect a good fight when there's already a ton of smack talk going on from both sides.:Bla:

Berlanga certainly isn't ready for Benavidez anytime this year. Hopefully, by 2022, we can start to discuss the matchup.

So Alvarez vs Saunders is signed for the start of May. what a terrible fight, stylistically.

I would rather see Canelo vs Charlo or Canelo vs Benevides. Canelo is on the European tour lol.
