I saw you on ESB try in vain try to argue why boxing hasn’t evolved like other sports.

Those other comments were just painful to read. SMH

Maybe I’m just older and grumpier now but I just get more irritated now by dumb boxing fans. I can only read so much on ESB general or Reddit boxing and stuff like that before I get annoyed.

Eastside general is a cesspool and I'll post there only when I'm making fun of some casual who knows nothing about boxing outside of Fury, Canelo, and Loma.

Luckily, now we have an optimal Fightbeat, where the only troll left is now gone.

Here's another one I've always liked, and doesn't get mentioned enough. Marlon Starling's comprehensive schooling of Simon Brown:

There are only a couple of great posters on that specific board but I only visit that section once in awhile. Too many close minded casuals that lack civility.

I liked Winky Wright's clinical beatdown of Adrien Dodson. Also Emmanuel Augustus taking apart Jon Thaxton was entertaining.

Wright-Dodson is a good one. Probably Wink's sharpest performance.

Deffo. Dodson wasn't a bad fighter either but Winky's jab just took him apart.

Thaxton wasn't supposed to lose that one, albeit Thaxton was never much good. Hatton gave him a 12 round hiding but he did cut Ricky.

    There were others, too.

Today Winky would be an American megastar.

Back then he was being managed by the Acaries brothers and was fighting in Europe a lot. He was so avoided he fought Bronco McKart about 5 times.

I don't think Wink ever had the style and personality to be a megastar.

Not a knockout puncher, and not especially charismatic.

He's a good dude, seems very approachable and down to Earth, but never had that "it" factor that makes a guy a star.

Now, in terms of how he does today, he'd easily be #1 at 154 in 2020. He would school Jermell Charlo without much difficulty.

Yes that's right, Thaxton was on a roll at the time. The roll starting with the shock first round KO of Scrap Iron Ryan who was being lined up for a world title shot before Thaxton sparked him. Thaxton's camp made the same mistake as Ryan's by not doing their research on their opponent, looking at the record and assuming it was an easy night's work before the upcoming big fight.

Thaxton wasn't very good, you're right. He cut Hatton badly in the first 15 seconds but didn't win a second of the fight thereafter. I remember Eamonn Magee gave him a real pasting too.

Eamon Magee - dropped Hatton with a right hook, then badly wobbled him shortly after. I don't believe he won any rounds after that, though.

I haven't seen that fight since it happened, just going off memory.

But Hatton really was abysmal against southpaws - the Magee, Urango, Collazo, and Pac fights all showed that.

Yep, he was the first guy to drop Hatton in the pros, and like you say had him hurt badly in the next round too. Magee was actually pretty talented and he had a good chin too, but he had a bad habit of sleepwalking in fights and giving rounds away. Should have cost him against Shea Neary, and he kind of just stopped doing anything against Hatton after the first two rounds. When he was on he was a good fighter.
