Not really to be honest, it was nowhere near as good as the Ward fight. Neary should have won but he was only winning the rounds because Magee wasn't doing anything.
That's why I find it hard to handicap a mythical matchup between Hatton and Josh Taylor. Because Ricky wasn't too good against southpaws.
Magee had his legs broken BY THE IRA. Makes me laugh at that phony tough guy McGregor. Magree truly gave ZERO FUCKS for any body or any gang. He'd have retired Connor in 4 rounds... Any rules.
What I meant was by talent. If there was no Floyd and Hopkins and Winky beat Vargas, Oscar, Tito... He'd be massive.
No kids know Magee. They know Ham and Egger McGregor. Outrage!! Magee would pull that stupid tattoo off Connor and shove it up his arse.
Gotcha. DLH wanted no parts of Wright. I think he knew damn well that Wright was the WRONG style for him.
Yeah Magee was right in the thick of it with that stuff. He had this big scar on his neck where he'd been stabbed and nearly died, I think his son was murdered too.
Agreed. He'd win his share of rounds but wouldn't be able to sustain any success. By the time that fight was viable Winky's punch resistance and defense improved a lot from the time he faced guys like Julio Cesar Vazquez. Oscar would have a lot of difficulty penetrating the guard and didn't quite have enough power to really hurt Wright outside some one in a hundred perfectly executed left hook. You add in the southpaw factor and it's just a long day at the office for De La Hoya. It wasn't high risk, low reward. More like high risk no reward.
Wright-Trinidad is a different fight if Tito is 5-6 years younger. That sloth in there with Wright that night was a shell of the 90s Tito.
Honestly I don't think Tito could handle good clever fighters. Tito was World Class when it came to knowing out shorter defense-deficient bums like Zulu or Mamby or Joppy. Tito might win but he'd win in the Vargas style,by moving his hands and *pressuring" Winky.
