Crawford is being blacklisted by the entire PBC/Showtime stable - that's nothing new. That's why Crawford keeps having to settle for faded ex-champs like Brook and Khan or high risk/low reward fights like Kavaliauskas. PBC/Showtime won't risk one of their titles going to an outsider when they have so many options within their umbrella for their titleholders to fight.
I'm not a big fan of Canelo but seeing top guys between 147 and 168 waiting around on a big money fight with Canelo instead of fighting each other and building their own legacy without Canelo is a bad look for the sport. There's about 10 fighters calling out Canelo. Even if he fights 3 x in 2021 he cant fight all of them. If he fights Charlo and beats him theyll say hes ducking Andrade. If he fights Spence at 160 Charlo will say Canelo is ducking him.
He pretty much already has. During the smith vs canelo post fight press he was asked about Spence jr wanting to fight him. Canelo said Spence was a great fighter but he had other goals for 2021 like unifying at 168.(Plant & Saunders) I suspect Spence mentioning a fight with Canelo is posturing to negotiate the bigger piece of the pie with Crawford. Nothing more than negotiating tactics.
IMO Crawford saying over and over "I don't need Spence" is a bad look they should both want it and make it happen
Agreed. They're not entitled to the fight, beat the other guys around you and he'll have no choice but to face you.
They've both let me down. Goddamn era of divas, and Spence/Crawford aren't even big enough stars to be divas.
I blame the networks for paying them to fight nobodies. The networks like it because then they can hype the fighter as super human and unbeatable. And the fighters are there in the first place to make money so you can hardly blame them. The responsibility for righting the ship thus lies with fans. The good news is it seems like there are more options than ever to watch fights, with regular broadcasts on Fox, Showtime, DAZN and ESPN and ESPN+. The bad news is, this has resulted in much less value per broadcast, with garbage undercards and only rarely are main events truly compelling. Used to be you could order a PPV and see at least three champions fight worthy opponents. Now the only way the undercard is "decent" is if the main event is crap. Otherwise, it's just marketing with prospects in against used up guys.
I was gonna like this post but no post should have 5 likes? Want five likes? Make a really really really good post.. Not this 4 likes shit....
Yeah, but with a bigger ring IQ. And that would make @roughdiamond Gomez, who beat the shit outta me a couple years ago which caused me to make improvements.
Muzse used to ride on the back of Sly's great grandfather to fights. He loved Sly's great grandad- cried like a baby day he had to put him down.
