Say what???? You can't be serious. Kessler was one the top 10 best counterpunchers in the sport in 07.
Nah, Tszyu was still considered a heavy favorite over Zab in 2000. It wasn't until he struggled with Urkal and the media started siding with Zab. And I think the Urkal fight was in 01.
Crawford vs DLH is the toughest matchup here to handicap. Crawford has the talent and skill to beat Oscar - but his comp is so piss poor that's impossible to say. Oscar would beat every single fighter Crawford has beaten. Is the opposite true? We have no clue, cause he fights fuckin stiffs.
Man the hell youre talking about. Kessler was all about leading with the jab and landing the right hand afterward. He wasnt a counterpuncher at all. He wasnt able to land shit on ward cause of his pressure
I think dlh was a bit better than him, a bit too fast. But as you say, hard to tell given Bud putrid opposition
You really need to watch some of young Kessler's fights - like against Siaca for example, when he won the title. To say he wasn't a good counterpuncher is absurd. It's the best trait he had, actually. His weaknesses were that he couldn't infight, and he wasn't really versatile/creative. But a good counterpuncher he was.
Ive seen pretty much all of kessler fights. And no, i dont see him as a good counterpuncher. Im baffled that you think he was
Bud has a higher ring IQ - that much I can say with confidence. Oscar was a dope. What I'm mainly concerned about is Crawford's chin handling Oscar's power. I'm not too sure it could. I think DLH might be behind on the cards, then catch Bud with a hook that turns his lights out.
We could technically match Mosley vs Crawford, since Shane was the welterweight champion effective June 2000. That one ain't hard for me. Mosley fucks Crawford up.
Terrible matchup for canelo. Toney would meet him in the trenches and counter the fuck out of him. And toney chin means that canelo doesnt even have a puncher chance
I'm not seeing it. Bud is fooling a lot of people fighting these sloths. We saw what happened against Gamboa. I think he would be fucked in the face of 2000 Shane's handspeed. Crawford is NOT a hard target to find, and his chin doesn't appear great. Shane had an all time great chin, we know that. Crawford is smarter, but I just see Shane's physical gifts being too much.
I cant for the life of me see Crawford beating Mosley or Trinidad. Those two are the worst matchups for him of the 90s/00s guys. Mosley beats him up, and Trinidad violently knocks him out. He matches up a bit better against Oscar and Ike.
Toney would come in pissed off at the little diva's hype machine, and would look to make an example of him.
Yea he beat delahoya, id rank that as his second best performance. If he fucked up Crawford id rank that above him fucking up Margarito, his best career performance
Mosley vs Crawford - one guy beat prime Oscar and prime Margarito. The other has beaten.... Viktor Postol.
I like Bud, and I think he's goddamn good... but do I feel he's a product of this welterweight era and it would be different for him in the 90s? 1000% I do! Arum's Leonard comparisons are fucking hilarious. Ray had surpassed Bud's resume BEFORE he won the title. I'm not joking either - Pete Ranzany and Andy Price were better than Postol. And Ray annihilated these guys - didn't take em to a boring ass decision like Bud did. How sad is that? Pre-title Leonard had a superior resume to a guy whos been champion for damn near 10 years.
Yeah crawfors career is a sham unfortunately. Did you see that Arum offered 1m for a porter fight? Ridiculous
Nah, I haven't been paying much attention to much current news in the last week or so. Didn't hear about that. I just thought that comparison needed to be made. Ray Leonard had a better career than Terence Crawford before he beat Benitez. Thats fucking sad, Bud.
I remember that. I think it was Boxing News that did a brilliant piss-take report on the Tszyu-Urkal and Judah-Vester fights about the way the American press was overrating Judah's win over Vester and underrating Tszyu against a much better opponent in Urkal. And Boxing News was proven correct.
