Unless he really did get into directing. One would hope that his directing style wasn't similar to his fighting. I can just see his first spaghetti western. 'The Good, the Bad and the guy who bored the snot out of me.' A very catchy title.

For varying reasons and to varying degrees, all fighters I've either never been a fan of and/or rated highly in comparison to their numbers:

Serrano
Steve Robinson
Omar Narvaez
Anselmo Moreno
Yamanaka
Wonjongkam (good/very good tbf but not what his numbers would suggest imo)
Erdei
Markus Beyer
Abraham at 160

 

Omar Narvaez is a good one. Decent guy, but really not elite as long reigning champions go.

Sammy Serrano was trash IMO.

 

I'm not sure if former feather and super feather weight title holder Derrick Gainer would qualify but he did win the wba title by beating Freddy Norwood. He was awful ..with 40+ fights and only 7kos made Paulia Ayala look like Prince Ahmed. I didnt rate him very high. No one did except for his #1 fan and daddy Roy Jones Jr. Lol

Wow, Johnny Nelson can't even get any love in the one thread you'd think he'd excel in.

 

Beyer wasn't so bad. He beat up Richie Woodhall and at the time only Keith Holmes had done that. He also outlasted Danny Green in a very tough battle. Erdei beat JuGo which Mikketlcheffski couldn't. Not bad fighters just too comfortable in Europe making good money back in the 2000s

 

He's that bad.

In fairness Liles was worse..... Nelson fought some names. I think Nunn is the only guy worth a damn that Likes fought.

The major beef with Admiral Nelson was that he got a lot of attention despite being quite average..

 

He was bad. Should have lost.to Lucas and Lucas was a palooka of the highest order

 

Good enough to go 11 with Roy Jones.

Beyer was never the same after Catley beat him.. Who then lost to Thobela (whose gloves were Allegedly loaded) who then lost to Hilton who then lost to the WBC after being totally fitted up for a sex crime.

We should have a thread for the worst shortest reigning fighters.

Beyer first reign he made one DEFENCE.... Woodhall won and made 2 defences. Then he lost to Beyer who made 1 defence. The next 3 guys, Catley, Thobela and Hilton made ZERO defences.

Going back to the time of Ray Leonard winning that thing against a 1 armed gay porn dehydrated guy called Donny La Blonde, Nigel Benn winning that title right up to Joe Provoke taking it off Kessler and now this callum clenelo shit.... That fucking belt has been CURSED.

Lalonde was a devastating right hand puncher, though. That much he had going for himself.

 

The guy literally looked like he'd been found in Malibu and dragged into the boxing game.

Pong Wonjongham definitely doesn't belong IMO. He's a top 20 Flyweight on my list and a damned good fighter.

 

Beyer had a better career after losing to Catley

 

I disagree with Liles... I think he was fairly good, but squandered what talent he had against nobodies until he showed his age against Mitchell.

I think he's more fitting for the "fighters that were ruined by being protected" thread.
