Watched Hearns-Benitez - safe to say Gomez-Pintor was the fight of the night.

Lol. Yeah, I haven't watched Hearns-Benitez since the early 00s.

Its not the most exciting fight.

I’ve never looked at it that way. Very interesting fight.

To be fair, its been so long that one of these days I need to rewatch it.

From my recollection, it was less interesting than Leonard-Benitez.

Yeah, I always enjoyed Hearns-Benitez. I think Hearns' injury made it more interesting that it otherwise would have been.

It showed Hearns' versatility and Benitez's weaknesses in equal measure. I had it wide for Hearns.

Just watched Holyfield-Tyson 1 for the first time since the night of the fight. That took me all the way back to the Student Union bar of a university in northern England and screaming myself hoarse for Holyfield - bloody marvellous.

Well, I trust you didn't pick up their accent. If you did, I can only apologise and hope for a speedy recovery.

Nah, I used to have an accent when I was younger and lived in Macclesfield but moved down south when I was still young so lost it pretty quick.

I love some Southern accents. They're either great to take the piss out of, or are sick like somet out of Snatch.

There's another apprentice at work who's from Stoke, and that accent is fucking horrific. It's like a combination of Scouse and Brummy. I cannot see a shorter straw he could've drawn when it comes to how to talk.

Hahaha - yeah, where I was living was actually in this place called Alsager. I dunno if you've heard of it but it's next to Crewe - which is really the arsehole of the north but with one saving grace, which is a railway station that connects it to more interesting places like Manchester. I used to get the train from there when I wanted to go somewhere for proper culture back in the mid-to-late 90s.

Alsager was a bit like something out of the movie Straw Dogs. It was the kind of place that should never have had a university campus there as the locals clearly didn't want it. And eventually it got closed down, which was probably best all round.

Revisiting some old classics from my earlier days of boxing fandom - Gerald McClellan v Julian Jackson. Great KO by McClellan against a fading but not totally faded Jackson. The left hook he caught Jackson with on the way down was a beauty.

    Simon Brown v Maurice Blocker

Good fight and an underrated (at least by me) unification fight that passed me by previously. Blocker was winning and then fell apart in about 90 seconds.

I rewatched Toney vs Barkley, and Eddie MM vs Martin yesterday. I hadn't watched either in maybe like 4 years.

Both guys (JT and EMM) were brilliant in these respective fights, and ironically, it's EMM in Toney's corner for the Barkley fight.

Watched Woods vs. Gonzalez. Pretty good fight. I actually felt Gonzalez won and found the announcers really distracting and disconnected from reality. Watt in particular was little more than a cheer leader.

    Ray Mercer vs. Bert Cooper

In a fight Ray should win by mid-round stoppage, ends up becoming a FOTY candidate because Cooper decided not to quit. Cooper also shattered Ray's jaw

Lara Warrington. Josh couldnt get out of the way of Mauricio's left hooks starting about halfway through. From then on, it was pretty one-sided.

Castano vs. Texeira. Castano is fucking good. Nice short punches. Doesn't smother his own punches. Good defense. Really good at throwing on the move - doesn't have to be set to punch. Appears very durable. Good body-puncher. Good fighter. Been watching out for this ever since he beat Lara (I thought he deserved the nod).

That fight shouldve been stopped after the 4th round knockdown and follow up barrage. Warrington took a murderous beating and any competent ref wouldve stepped in rather than let it go on the way Warrington was staggering around taking hellacious shots with zero avoidance, but the ref knowing the bell was seconds away was determined to let Josh see the bell... Lara gave the ref the “wtf is wrong with you are you trying to have me kill a guy in here?!” expression at the end of the round. After that the fight was just adding to the career and possibly life-altering beating that Warrington should NOT have taken... it was over after the KD and his corner if nobody else should’ve seen it too.
