What are some fights that you can think of where a fighter was wrongfully robbed of a win via decision loss or draw, but failed to avenge that outcome in the rematch? First to come mind would be Joe Louis vs Jersey Joe Walcott.
Bute vs andrande Jcc vs taylor Ward vs kovy (even though the second fight was also a disgustingly corrupted affair)
Floyd-JLC Not a decision, but Coggi-Gonzalez is the biggest robbery in boxing, Gonzalez KO'd Coggi a million times but wound up losing Then in the re-match, Coggi beats Gonzalez clean anyway
For sure i fucking loathe Coggi cause of that fight. Completely outrageous But it was pretty obvious he was gonna win the re. Gonzalez ko in the first was the definition of fluke
Hasim Rahman got screwed in the first David Tua match with the late hit and bad stoppage. Then a fat Rahman probably should have gotten the decision in the rematch and they ruled it a draw. GGG should have gotten the decision in the first Canelo fight. Canelo was lucky to get a draw in that one. The rematch could have gone either way (I had it 114-114), but we all knew Canelo would get the nod in a close decision. It’s been awhile since I saw the James Toney-Montell Griffin fights, but I remember thinking Toney should have won both, and Griffin got the decisions both times
Somehow, I overlooked Rosario-Ramirez II. Rosario-Randall II probably also qualifies. EDIT: Oops, wrong thread!
Watson v Eubank I was an awful robbery. Eubank near killed him in the rematch despite being outclassed for almost all of it. MTF
