It really was. Being there at the MGM I did not see this coming. I was shocked. Corrales was like a mean junk yard dog and Mayweather dismantled him. He must have knocked Corrales down a half dozen times. The rumor was that Corrales was weight drained. Then again most prideful (undefeated)warriors like Corrales can come up with excuses as to why they lost. Btw Corrales was one of my favorites but gotta give MW his dues for that huge win.

The Corrales being weight drained excuse really don't fly when he was still fighting at 130lbs a few years later vs casamayor and Freitas

Him knowing he was goin to jail certainly could've fucked his head up prior to facing Mayweather Jr, though

 

I remember the HBO broadcast showed Corrales wolfing down a hero sandwich in his dressing room before the fight, though. If he really was weight-drained, it could be because his distractions outside the ring interrupted and hindered his training.

 

I think Mayweather got in his head. Corrales was facing jail time for beating his girlfriend. Do you remember during the press conference Mayweather saying he was going to dedicate his win to all the battered women? Ironically later on Mayweather had his own domestic violence charges filed against him .

 

The fact Corrales remained at 130 in no way contradicts his claim of being weight drained for the PBF fight.

 

I agree Corrales was damn near 6"7 and 130 lbs soaking wet. Because of his frame Id imagine making weight(130)was always a struggle. Add to that outside the ring distractions and you have a recipe for disaster.
