Extremely close, but I think Jones gets stopped late. Hagler comes on too strong late, especially if it's a 15 rounder. Jones' speed and craftiness could let him try and pull a Leonard though.

I can see it going either way. Roy hasn't faced anyone who not only has the stamina to apply constant pressure but skills to do it effectively. On the other hand Hagler hasn't met somebody with the reflexes, hand speed and power all rolled into one. Add to that Roy would be the larger man.

If this is at 160, I don't think Jones showed enough at the weight to be favored over a prime Hagler.

For sure. I don't think it's ludicrous to pick Jones, but if you're "making a case" it's easier to go with the marvelous one.

According to Roy he had a broken right hand when he faced Hopkins. I have no idea how true that is given virtually every boxer's version of events that ever happened in the history of things that happened.

Jones isn't beating Hagler with a damaged paw, and certainly not if he's starting the fight with one. That's an aside though unless it's another "version" of this vs "version" of that.

i agree. jones was a lot better and experienced at 168 where he peaked physically also. at 160 he was beatable by someone as great as hagler

If it really wasn't the father, then the only plausible explanation is that Roy Jr. must've dabbled in time travel.
