Canelo seems to be turning into a very good SMW. How would he fare against a guy that was just a tad short of the elites of the division?

Canelo still has things to prove, but considering how dominant he was against Callum I'd make him the favorite over Kessler as of now

Prime Kessler would have executed Smith.

I think so also. Think his speed would really trouble Kessler

As much as i think calzaghe is overrated, i think he wins this one.

But would have been fun to see

I would still make Kessler the favorite.

Ginger's last two opponents have obviously made people forget that he's vulnerable to world class jabbers.

I think.movement troubles Canelo more than jabs. And kessler wasn't a very fluid mover.

Kov wasn't moving at all. In fact, his legs were totally and completely shot. His jab alone troubled Ginger.

I wouldn't make Kessler the sure pick. I'm more trying to say that we need to see Canelo beat a better super middle.

But Kessler is a winnable fight for Canelo, it's like a Jones or Ward, where I'd totally count him out.

For sure this is far from a gimme for either fighter, and it's close to a pickem imo. Hopefully we'll get a better idea of clenelo wotrh as a.smw in the next few years

Kessler was a solid all-around fighter, but I don't think he was spectacular enough in any one area to beat Canelo. Plus, he had something of a tendency to freeze in big fights (i.e.: Calzaghe and Ward).

I think Canelo deserves to be favored.

The first Froch fight was a very big fight at the time, and Kessler won it.

He didn't "freeze" against Ward and Calz, they were just a level above him.
