Against Ronald Ellis. Figures to be a complete mismatch. Personally, im more excited to see Isaac Cruz fight on the undercard.
Stay Busy Fight... Canelo Fought Yildirum, Dirrell Drew w/Kyrone Davis...Ronald Ellis Ain't Much, But He's the Best AVAILABLE Guy David Benavidez Could Fight, Per the WBC... Benavidez MADE Weight, Which is a Positive Step for Him...Now He Needs to Make an Example of Ellis...KO 3-5 Max...Then Talk Shit to Canelo and Caleb Plant in the Post-Fight... Anything Beyond That Will Rightfully Reflect POORLY Upon Benavidez... REED
1st Time Seeing Cruz... Tooooooooooo SHORT to Ever Be a Legit Title Threat @ 35...Has an OVERTLY Aggressive, Young James Kirkland Way About Him, in REED's Opinion...Plants his Back Foot Similarly and Fires Away Recklessly From Distance OR Within Range... Walks In the Way Kirkland Does... REED
Ellis is Getting His Ass Whupped, But He's GAME AF...Tough, Prideful Dude... He's No Avni Yildirum, That's for Damn Sure... REED
Good Stoppage... Ellis Needs to Rest Up and Return in 6 Months or So...He's Become a Credible NAME @ '68 and Can Garner Some Decent Paydays... Not the STATEMENT REED Wanted/Expected from Benavidez, But Ellis' TOUGHNESS was the Story of the Fight...Benavidez Beat the Shit Out of Him, Dude Just WOULDN'T Fall... REED
Who would you say is Benevide's best win... was against Dirrell would you agree? David did what he was supposed to do with a guy like Ellis who btw had never been stopped. But nothing I saw tonight tells me Benevides would beat Canelo. Fundamentally I think he does things that Canelo would expose. He's a little wild and a little wreckless. He doesnt cutt off the ring as well as he should. I think Canelo would be too seasoned for Benavides. Too green to beat a guy like Nelo whos been in the ring with hall of famers.
I agree Dirrell is his best win, and if Benavidez fought like he did against Ellis he gets out-classed by Canelo
Benavidez just went after Ellis and beat him up. I hope he knows that's not going to work when he faces guys with real power and timing. Would definitely pick him over Plant though.
Of Course Benavidez Would Fight Canelo and Other Elites Differently; In Fact, He Fought Ellis Differently... When Ellis was More Aggressive Early, Benavidez Jabbed, Fought Off his Backfoot Some, Rolled/Parried Shots and Observed...Benavidez Didn't START the Fight Simply Stalking Ellis w/Little Regard for Defense... And for What it's Worth, Benavidez has Never Looked in BETTER Shape, in REED's Opinion...He'll ALWAYS Be a Fleshy, Larry Holmes/Riddick Bowe Built Motherfucker, But Benavidez's Torso has Never Looked More FIT... Small Battles, But Maybe - Just MAYBE Dude is Starting to GET It...Time Will Tell... REED
