    Good Thread...

REED's Always Taken "THE Best Fighter in the World Lb for Lb" Very Seriously...Though Many Have WORN the Mantle, It's Not Something to Trifle w/...w/That Established, REED Isn't Opposed to Leaving the TOP Spot Vacant @ Times Either...

"Sweet Pea" Whittaker, Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather...From the Very Early 90's to Around 2015 or So, Those are Literally the ONLY Fighters REED Ever Placed ATOP His Own Personal Lb for Lb Lists...

But Along the Way, James Toney, Oscar dela Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley, Bernard Hopkins and Others ALL Received Consideration as "THE Best Fighter in the World Lb for Lb" in that Span...

No One's SEIZED It in the Post-Floyd Era, But Lomachenko Came the CLOSEST Among Recent Fighters...Given Loma's Loss to Teofimo, Canelo is Currently the Most WORTHY Candidate of the TOP Spot on Lb for Lb Lists...

WORST Lb for Lb Champion Ever???...As You Stated, It's Impossible to SUCK & Be Considered, So it's NO Slight, But REED Would Nominate Canelo, Loma, DeLa, Tito or Sugar Shane, as CRAZY as That Sounds...

I think choco, crawford and GGG also deserves a mention. All very good elite fighters, but they are weak when compared to the best ever

If REED Isn't Mistaken Curry Got No Higher than 2nd, Behind Hagler...

If Memory Serves it Passed from Duran to Leonard, Then Leonard Retired...In the Immediate Post-Leonard Era Hagler Had it, Then Tyson Briefly, Then Sweet Pea...

Personally, REED Entertained the Idea of Chocolatito, But Never Bud or GGG...

Though Not Household American Names, Chocolatito Fought the BEST Guys Available from 105-115...And Beat Them Impressively...Bud and GGG Won Impressively Also, Obviously, But Against WHO???...

Resume is the Reason REED Has Canelo #1 Currently, Ahead of Bud...

Chocolatito imo. Very good fighter with a huge workrate but a bit pedestrian, I don't think he belongs with the cream of the crop. Maybe the other Tito too. Curry might be the runaway choice but unsure in how string his claim to the p4p throne was

Pedestrian? That's absurd. I realize this is all subjective, but calling Choco pedestrian suggests you might not understand what you're watching.

Sure, as if you are considered a treasure chest of boxing knowledge around these parts lol.

Getting back to Chocolatito, let's just say that amongst the top p4p, he's probably the least explosive ever

I was a huge fan but Tito certainly deserves a mention. Some argued he deserved to be the pfp king but, as far as I'm concerned, he never reached the top because of Jones (even though Jones' competition for a while left him open for deserved criticism IMHO). Same for Mosley, who, for a brief period was considered, as a contender for the top spot. Still, these guys were never the consensual pfp king.

Right now, I believe the top spot belongs to Canelo who also isn't in the same category as Jones, Mayweather or Whitaker. I wonder how he would have fared against prime Tito or prime Mosley. I think he would have held his own against both. I have a hard time picturing him beating Tito at 147 or 154 but I could see him victorious over Mosley...

JCC and Tyson were both the pfp king for a little while if I'm not mistaken. I don't think anyone would disagree that they were both better than Canelo. So, all of this to say I agree with REED, Canelo might be the worst pfp king, at least for the last 40 years...

Chocolatito shouldn't even be in the conversation.

Agree... but, of those group of 90’s — 00’s fighters that were in consideration, I believe it was really only Sugar Shane who was ever widely regarded to be in that spot. I can hear Lampley making that claim, whereas everyone else was in the convo but not there.

And yes, Shane most definitely was undeserving, especially when you consider how easily he was dispatched in his prime by Mayorga victim Forrest.

I'm just saying there's nothing "pedestrian" about Chocolatito.

I kinda disagree. Pedestrian might be too strong of a word, but Among fighters who were rated #1 p4p hes probably the one who has the least spectacular moments nor did he displayed otherworldly skills/talents (a la rj). Now, that doesn't means he's a lesser fighter, but imo he sure isnt as impressive as most of these guys

Not surprising coming from the clown who claimed Chocolatito would be the greatest below Bantam ever if he beats Estrada and SRR :sleep2:

Not really. There might have been some who considered Curry P4P #1, but I think the general consensus was that the legend who died yesterday was the P4P king at the time.

I've seen numerous articles who claims he was considered by many p4p 1 after the Mccrory fight. But yeah, might have been hylerbole

I think the answer here is Oscar. The Ring considered him P4P #1 in several years during the 90s.

In his prime, I believe DLH was better than Canelo. Hell, he did better against Mayweather and he was past his best.
