I thought about this regarding Whyte vs Povetkin II. It must be pretty rare that the guy who loses by knockout is the clear betting favorite in the rematch. Name some such instances

From heavyweight, the first I could think of were Joshua vs Ruiz, Ali - Liston II and Tyson - Holyfield II, though in neither the betting was as lopsided as here

Hasim Rahman was a pretty big fave for his rematch with Maskaev IIRC.

Was Felix Sturm favored in his rematch with Castillejo?

Nate Campbell may have been favored in his rematch with Robbie Peden.

Of course, none of these include fighters whose loss was considered controversial, like Barrera entering the Morales rematch.

Pretty certain that Forrest was the favorite over Mayorga in their rematch.

    Lewis - Rahman II
Lewis - McCall II (I guess...)

I think Charles was the betting favourite for the Marshall rematch.

It was the third fight instead of the rematch but i'm thinking Jones probably was still the favorite over Tarver?

No, he wasn't. Tarver was the favorite.

Cory Stinks vs Zab Judah. Pretty sure Judah was favourite.

Brewster vs Wlad- Wlad was favourite having been on the up and up and Brewster now in decline post Lyakhovich.

Just rewatching the 9th round of Stinks vs Poodah, the commentators say that "Judah has come to St Louis and upset Cory Stinks"........but........I am pretty sure Judah was not the underdog for that fight.

    Here's one:

    Haye vs Bellew.

The first fight had ended on a TKO victory for Bellew when Haye blew his ankle out.

In the rematch, Bellew blew him away, and Haye was DEFINITELY favourite in the rematch.

    Bellew was 6-1 to win on points {+600}

Here is what the site "Oddschecker" was saying in their "Tips" section.

"The previous fight would also suggest that while Bellew can box Haye, he probably does not have the power to really hurt and overwhelm a fit Haye. Even after Haye suffered his injury in the 6th it still took Bellew until the 11th round before managing to stop him. While this is heavyweight boxing (albeit between two ex-cruiseweights) and a clean shot can stop the fight at any time, it looks to me like one going the distance."

    lol lol lol lol

Was DLH the favorite in the Mosley rematch? I feel like he was.

Can't remember, I know I was shocked he lost and then sure he wouldn't win the rematch, but that he deserved to lose the first and deserved to win the 2nd.

Oscar, as always, blew it in the Mosley rematch. From what I remember he faded late.

    The guy was a choker.

Maybe he just lacked Stamina and wasn't Mosley down the BALCO crew at the time or had he been exposed by then?

So Klitschko lost the first Brewster fight by KO and was favourite for the rematch, that's certainly how I recalled it, too.

Price Thompson is a good call.

Cotto........dunno, was he favourite? If so only because Margarito got his face smashed in by Pac.

Yeah but Cotto carried that damage into the rematch however illegally it had been caused.
