Ralph Fratelli went on to bigger and better things in the 1990's and the 2000's :Jest:

Frank is an out and out bastard, but the movie makes the point about how Frank is "Just a man".......the real driving force behind Franks ultimate nastiness is the Railroad Tycoon, who has retained Franks services and enables him. Once he's gone, by Franks hand, in a way, Frank is soon to follow.

60's movies were a bit light, they couldn't show much, but a much more sophisticated calculating bastard would be the likes of Komarovsky in Dr Zhivago.

He's like a lot of todays elitists, desperately trying to play the two halves agains the middle, hoping it don't bite him the ass.

For the 70's- Serpicos playmates in "Serpico" have to, collectively, warrant consideration. Utterly bent lowlives and based entirely on real life cops of that Era.

Jack Torrance.......was basically insane. It's easy to be a bastard when you are mad.

Another consideration for the '60s might be the real-life killers portrayed in "In Cold Blood," which was one of the first times real-life killers were portrayed in such graphic detail on film.
