The Molitor Lizard didn't want to be there, it had all the makings of a very "astute" piece of match-making, had a real Gerry Cooney feel to it, fight a washed up, faded, jaded name, and even at that beat him in "just pay me and let me go home" circumstances.
Frampton was all over him from the get go. Great performance I didn't think he would stop Molitor but things are looking up for this kid
He maxed out. Horrid style in my opinion- efficient, tight, compact. No volume, and sort of exposed by less than stellar fighters. That he won genuine World Titles is an achievement in and of itself. I think McCullough would have beaten him, never mind anybody bigger or more powerful.
Terrible fight for Frampton. Undersized, old, slow and beaten down. It was obvious from a minute in that he was going to get a hiding, and he did. MTF
I thought Frampton was decent in his pomp. Not brilliant or anything, but good, sharp, game, reasonably skilled. Never going to be an ATG, but good. He looked shot from the first bell, there. Struggled to get inside for two rounds, then got inside, threw nothing and got brayed for his troubles. MTF
Best fighter from Ireland to box what? This is what happens in the "Modern" era of "Modern" know it alls. They know tee-tee, very little. Framptons not even the best boxer from Northern Ireland. He might not even be the top 10 boxers from Northern Ireland. Right now, McLarnin, Close, McCaulay, McCullough, Monaghan, Spider Kelly, Storey, Magoo, are all ahead of him. And that's just off the top of my head. Then you've got guys like Eamonn Loughran, Sinky Sinclair....who didn't become "WORLD CHAMPS" but then again, they fought ACTUAL World Champs. He's marginally better than Darren Corbett.
I don't see any argument what so ever for about half of those being above him. McLarnin is the clear number one from Northern, and all of Ireland.
In retrospect, Frampton started to looked washed against Horatio Garcia, and that was like five fights ago
Don't get me wrong, I give the lad credit, I liked watching him back in 2012 and there-abouts, nice guy who liked a scrap. Just limited, and in the worst sort of way. Tight, short-armed style. Not my thing. Give me a 1000 punch per fight guy any day of the week.
Don't know......Monaghan was a brilliant southpaw who could bang and move and did it with half a set of lungs.
Yep. Hence my "Lost to less than stellar guys" comment. Warrington just swarmed him and that should have been meat and drink to an alleged bomber like Frampton.
