Nah, Taylor is a wicked body puncher.

He was the first guy to stop Miguel Vasquez, and he did so with a body shot.

He also broke down clown ass Ohara Davis to the body, and slowed down Prograis with body shots.

I pick Taylor to win a close but relatively clear decision in a tougher battle than many people expect.

Ehhhh, a year ago I was thinking Taylor by close-ish decision.

I've changed my mind. Currently, I'm thinking Josh is gonna beat the Hell outta Ramirez.

I think Ramirez is a level below Prograis.

OK I think I need to get over to the Boxing Betting Tips thread thing.

Bookies seem to agree with X.

It's not that Ramirez is a wide underdog, it's just that Taylor is such a wide favourite.

    He's about -225 to win.

I guess he'd be better than that to KO him and right now, presuming that Josh wins, that's the only place there is any value.

time to go and watch some ramirez fights.

Zepeda and Ice Man show his limitations and level. The Hooker fight is a war.

the casino is reopening and attempting to make a splash so surely they over paid. problem is their fight venue (unless they expanded it or built a new one) is about 1/4 the size of MGM or T Mobile arena. so it will be more difficult to get tickets and likely more expensive.

10 minutes in, Hooker doesn't seem the smartest boxer of all time so it's hard to gauge how much success Ramirez offense will have against a smarter boxer like Taylor. But both Hooker and Ramirez look light years ahead of Ohara Davies :Jest:

That's cool, I don't say he won't, but I will keep an eye on the betting. Could be worth a tenner if he softens him up early, I might put £ on the 10th, 11th and 12th if it looks like it's going that far. Could pay off, who knows.

Frankly, REED's More Interested in Josh Taylor's NEXT Move Than This Particular Fight...REED Will WATCH, Obviously, But He's Not Terribly Optimistic About Ramirez's Chances...

Good Dude, Community Oriented, a Man of His People, But Jose Ramirez is NOT On Josh Taylor's Level...

This is an 80-20 Fight in Terms of Win Probability, in REED's Opinion...Taylor's Tall, Rangy, Quicker of Hand/Foot, More Rhythmic, and Never Gets Outworked...Takes More Than Volume Punching and a Stout Beard to Beat Him, But That's About All Ramirez Brings to the Table the Least Bit "Special"...

Short of a Fight Compromising CUT (Which Can't Be Ruled Out Given Taylor's Skin and Combativeness), REED Gives Ramirez Little to No Chance...

Taylor by Comfortable UD or Very Late Stoppage...

I'm basically in the same boat at this point.

I also see Ramirez's only chance as a bad cut opening up on Josh, which is always possible.

Ramirez is outgunned in talent and skill by a significant margin.

I'm going for Taylor by decision, but I do have a couple of concerns.

First off, this is his first meaningful fight with Ben Davidson in his corner, rather than Shane McGuigan. I know McGuigan has his doubters, but I thought he clearly had a genuinely deep relationship with Taylor and he seemed the perfect motivator and foil for him. The Baranchyk fight in particular showcased that, McGuigan read the fight perfectly and when Taylor was struggling a bit early on you could see his calming influence and that he gave him the perfect strategic advice to start turning things around.

I'm not sure about Davidson's credentials so far. It's a shame that McGuigan's services couldn't be retained after Taylor left Cyclone Promotions but I guess that was never feasible.

Also, if the fight is close I'd expect Ramirez to get a little more favour from the judges. I know Taylor is a full-on Top Rank fighter now, but he's not one I'd expect them to prioritise over others, Ramirez probably included amongst that. That's the cynic in me, I guess, and hopefully there's no skullduggery.

But I think Taylor is the better boxer by a distance and as long as he fights tall to avoid Ramirez's uppercuts, uses his jab a bit more (he's been guilty of underusing it) and doesn't get too emotionally involved I'd expect him to outbox Ramirez for the most part. All being well I see him winning the decision.

Ramirez very well could get the nod if the fight is close. Vegas judges tend to favor aggression.

From TR's perspective, I would surmise that they would prefer a Taylor win. He's the one with the better odds of becoming a mainstream name, and bringing in $$$$ to the company.

If Taylor wins, he has to make a mandatory defense against Jack Catterall, which there's no way he'll lose... Catterall is domestic level.

From there, I would be interested to see what TR wants. I think TR would be interested in a Taylor vs Davis matchup, because Josh would destroy Tank... but I know damn well Floyd/Ellerbe won't let Tank fight Taylor.

So seems logical that if Taylor beats Ramirez and Catterall, that Crawford v Taylor will be made for next year.

It's just an extremely stupid decision.

The only way it would have made any sense is if Taylor & Ramirez were stars, which they are NOT.

They shoulda been started selling tickets. Who TF is making these idiotic decisions at TR? Todd?
