Yeah apparently he has to work a polling station. I didn't even know that was a thing until the story broke. Here it's volunteers that get paid a few dollars for their time.

Tim is currently trending slightly positively at 52:48 in favour of his Timmishness.

I will monitor Tim closely. His comments may require more oxygen of publicity as the evening proceeds.

Marcelo should be made to PAY for doing this. He gets out of a trip to Chelsea.

Comments which are condemnatory of the fans seem to be struggling to get far past 50% approval rate.

Our boy Tim is trending at 51.9 to 48.1 at present

    Tim is weak.

More from Manchester United's club statement:

Our fans are passionate about Manchester United, and we completely acknowledge the right to free expression and peaceful protest.

However, we regret the disruption to the team and actions which put other fans, staff, and the police in danger. We thank the police for their support and will assist them in any subsequent investigations.

    FUCK OFF.

I wonder if the voter turnout is going to be higher than normal for whatever polling station he's assigned to. Bunch of commoners just wanting to see a millionaire perform a mandatory tedious task.

Good angle I never thought of it that way. It could sway turnout. It could have a butterfly effect. Political balance impacted, Governments fall, crises abound. Marcelo to blame.

I don't even recall what the election is for but i think it's a civic one. It would be funny if Florentino Perez won without being on the ballot.

Tim of Fulham is now down to 50%.

    Dead even.

With a bit of luck he winds up on the wrong side of the line.

    Tim, try harder.

Supporters have never accepted the Glazers due to their leveraged takeover in 2005, which plunged United into debt (net debt stood at £301.7m in the last quarterly figures) and, as reported by The Guardian in October 2018, their ownership has led to more than £1 billion being drained out of the club in interest charges.

    "THAT'S JUST BUSINESS!"

Can't say I agree with Neville either.

He's got a cat in the camp, so to speak.

He's all about bringing the Glazers down but he said fuck all when the good times were rolling.

The people who showed up today showed up to have jollies on a warm day when Liverpool were in town. They were predominantly younger fans many of whom missed out on the good times.

This wasn't older more fiscally conscientious guys who want some sort of conservation.

    Neville thinks we are thick.

    "
More from Gary Neville on Sky Sports: "The reason why those thousands and thousands of fans came today is because they have had enough. They have had enough.

"We can make the story today about the disturbances and I think that needs to be covered but the story should be about the Man Utd fans. They have had enough. It will be very difficult in the next few months.

"They didn't stop the game against Roma on Thursday. Will they stop the next game? I don't think they will. Ultimately the ball is in the owners court on what they do next. The fans have spoken today and have been powerful. They have stood up for what's right.""

My retort is simple: how many times have fans broken into the premises in support of this general tenet of fan-frustration?

    Once. Today.

So long as United were top, so long as the good times were here, no lockdowns, no Man City, they tolerated that which is allegedly intolerable.

The rest I agree on. It is leveraged debt rape.

Hicks and Gillett saw what the Glazers were up to and that;s why they launched their own attempt at Liverpool.

But Liverpool were not the money making machine that United were, and, out of Europe, the "Model" was doomed to fail.

Graeme Souness, noted pacifist and all round calm guy:-

    Man Utd P-P Liverpool

Former Liverpool captain and manager Graeme Souness claims some of the fans who found their way inside Old Trafford threw a flare and a can of the beer at the platform where the television pundits are seated.

"Someone threw a missile and a glass bottle which could of killed us or left us with scars in hospital," said Souness, who was working for Sky Sports.

If these Gordon Gecko types tried this with 80's football fans i think in my mind a protest would be the least of their worries.

I don't know. United had a fella called Michael Knighton who ran onto the field dressed in United kit at a rammed Old Trafford promising all sorts. He had no money and later claimed to have seen Aliens.

Two of his backers pulled out and the people he tried to replace them with included one Owen Oyston, of Blackpool fame, who was convicted of rape and indecent assault a few years later.

14 years after that again, Oystons name via his son, Karl Oyston, became synonymous with rampant greed- to the extent that players had to wash their own kit- at Blackpool who got promoted to and then relegated from the PL.

    Michael Knighton - Wikipedia

A few short years later United were Champions and would contend every year for the next 20 years straight. Then the Glazers moved in but their move also coincided with increase competition from emerging threats but also increased success and profile, especially in European competitions and in the Asian markets.

Nobody really got upset until the Rooney transfer saga and the departure of Ferguson. This got worse with the Tevez saga and the emergence of City in 2012 as a real threat. So you're looking at 2013/2014 as being the real beginning in all this.

    Not 2005.

Make no mistake about this, it is recent failures that are driving this allegedly long-term anger.

    Knighton was quickly forgotten.

So I mean, yeah, fucking owners, innit.

"Oyston was the subject of controversy again in 2007, when he was invited by Sir Alex Ferguson and former sports minister Richard Caborn to a Labour Party fundraising event in the new Wembley Stadium and attended by the newly appointed Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Oyston attended the event and subscribed for two tables of guests. After BBC Newsnight screened Oyston's arrival at the stadium, a spokesman for Gordon Brown said, "Mr Brown did not meet Mr Oyston, nor was he aware of his presence in advance. Mr Brown has asked the general secretary of the Labour Party to investigate the circumstances, but he has already instructed him that any donation from Mr Oyston should not be accepted."
