Damn, Kicking the Rican Brother to the Curb While he's DOWN???... :mut: REED Hasn't Been Wow'ed by Verdejo, Necessarily, but Dude is ONLY 23, Fellas...A Tad EARLY to Jump Off the Bandwagon???.... REED:dunno:
Make no mistake. I want him to do well. I really do. I believe in his talent. But I don't believe in his character. Too immature. Too much of a kid. I'm really questioning his commitment. I'm still hopeful. But won't be sad if he doesn't achieve anymore.
Everything PRock said....the kid is not doing what he needs to do to improve...he needs to get out of PR...immediately. Fuck friends...fuck family....get out....get with a real trainer...improve maricon...pendejo!
All REED's Saying is, 23 Year Olds Do DUMBASS, IMMATURE Shit...Hopefully Verdejo GROWS from This... REED:hammert:
Nah right now there is some tecato friend of his telling him..."loco tenemos que conprar otra fourtrak loco...pa basila par aya...loco....vamo pa comerio.....loco..."
Tito was once a very committed, professional 23 year old too. Either you are committed or not. Juanma suffered from the same problem as Verdejo and look where he is now.
Yeah, but Tito Had Don Felix There, Every Step of the Way...It's EASIER to Remain "Committed" and "Professional" when Your Old Man is a Former Fighter, and NAVIGATING Your Path For You... REED:hammert:
Hopefully it's just a misstep for Verdejo. To waste talent like that due to immaturity and stupidity is just sad. But we've had some Puerto Rican fighters waste their talent due to getting caught up in the celebrity life and Verdejo seems to be headed in that very direction.
He was on the verge of a title fight on November 05 against Terry Flanagan. His moment too shine. But the idiot decided to ride a motorcycle like a daredevil in one of the most dangerous roads in Puerto Rico. Now he will most likely will need a whole year off. But to give him the benefit of the doubt, Miguel Cotto also suffered a car accident early in his career which had him out of action for 8 months and he bounced well. Lets hope this fucker doesn't turn into a fat blob while resting.
Was he driving like a daredevil? Then I get the criticism. If all we know is that he had an accident on a motorcycle, which is all I know, then the criticism seems pretty stupid.
I agree. He has lot's of potential but it's clear he has a discipline problem. He openly admitted it in his last post fight interview with Max Kellerman. I don't understand what it is about these Puerto Rican athletes. We have seen this movie play out dozens if times. I really hope he takes advantage of his full potential but honestly I have my doubts.
Is because regardless of how poor they are, boxers in Puerto Rico are not as 'hungry' as Mexicans and Filipinos. In their countries were 'hungy' is literal, they box to put food in their stomachs and when they make money they still remember very well going to bed without a meal. Ricans cannot even imagine how that could be even possible.
Celebrity status comes too early for them, I think. Before they've actually EARNED it, the press has already anointed this guy as the new torch bearer. And in a place like PR with all the distractions of night life, women, etc., it's clear Verdejo is another one who seems to be who has fallen to that trap.
9 Times Out of 10, when an Athlete Gets a Motorcycle, he's GOING to Push the Envelope... Paul Williams, Chico Corrales, Kellen Winslow, Jr., Jay Williams...ALL Had Their Lives/Careers COMPROMISED by Motorcycle Accidents...The Criticism is VALID... REED:hammert:
It's LIFE Fellas....Shit HAPPENS... All REED's Saying Is, 27 Year Old's Do DUMBASS, IMMATURE Shit...Hopefully Verdejo Grows from This... Seriously, Who HASN'T Killed a Side Piece and Unborn Fetus???... REED
