Yes and no. While I do agree with your point and thought his post about Garcia's issues was classy, I feel he's been acting like a diva since he upset Lomachenko. Fact is, he's still a relative nobody and needs to showcase himself a lot more before thinking he s the next Mayweather (box office wise).

Having had to deal with the very, very worst consequences of mental health issues this year I'm not going to sit here and say the kid is lying. In fact the default position should always be that they are believed. If genuine then kudos for him being open about it and I hope he can get the help he needs.

It sounds like Ryan Garcia is not happy with Golden Boy either. I think he's talking about Oscar doing an interview where he easily got backed into a corner and admitted to cherry picking Garcia's opponents to protect him. Gaecia was like "WTF?"

 

He was recuperating in Hawaii for about 10 days or so.

Of course G is picking his opponents. In fact, the only reason that G should not be picking them is because that is his promoter. His fucking manager should be picking them instead.
Everybody- EVERYBODY- picks their opponents, if there is an upside to the fighter and if their manager has any influence at all.
Now, Ryan Garcia is already a moneymaker and has potential to be an absolute cash cow. But he has flaws and weaknesses that need to be corrected and that takes time. So right now he needs selective matchmaking. His biggest enemies are a haphazard selection of opponents and his own ego.
When you are looking at opponents, you look for guys that will make you look good and, if you can sell them, bonus points. But, in retrospect, looking good will sell them for you. That's how it works these days. If Ryan Garcia thinks that he is unbeatable and ready for the world, h ex will cause animosity in the people that are currently looking out for him and they will set him up to get beat.

 

I think Garcia was upset about the way Oscar said it. I can't find the interview and don't remember who it was (a youtuber for sure) asking questions. But the interviewer had an agenda to get Oscar to admit to picking easy opponents for Garcia. And Oscar (who was probably six drinks into the day) wilted pretty easily and said it.
