    Haha.

I am not trying to call anyone out but I do want to point out there was a long conversation on this forum about four or five years ago about how English clubs no longer stood a chance. That Bayern, Barca & Real Madrid had developed into Super Clubs and the Premier League had been left in the dust.

This is the second all England CL final since then. Just something to think about when the old timers complain about the sport being the same old predictable shite.

Pretty sure i was on the right side of that one......money's like gravity, everything comes back down & lands in the end

Which is exactly why current european fitbaws so fucking predictable. I mean aye it might switch up from barca for a few years to bayern to man city to psg a few years from now but its a closed shop of ~10 clubs with a monumental drop off into total 'might as well not even try' irrelevance from there

Newcastle United looked like a top 4 side in that first half. Leicester looked like Leicester- an overrated outfit managed by a guy who has a lot of people fooled about his credentials.

Derby and Rooney heading down to League One as it stands. I doubt Rooney will be in charge at the start of next season.

Leicester and Spurs performances this week suggesting Liverpools performances vs both were far better than first appeared.

Leeds with the magic earlier today.

    Liverpool not up to 8pm.

I fucking hate late kick offs.

I love a 12.30 on Saturday. Lets you get the worry out of the way.

Southampton draw or win and Saunders on points gets you 20/1 over at Bet365

Barca vs Atleti is on now. Who you got in this battle for La Liga? Sevilla blew it last week vs 6/1 Athletic Baggins.

Bookies strongly lean to Barca on this one. Atleti 3-1

The thing is..........I can't think of another way Leipzig- a depressed industrial city in the East, was ever going to "Get good"......without selling out.

It's not like Munich where you can have 3 teams, 1 of them a beast.

I am not saying I like it, just can't see a way around it.

Yeah even in North American sports where there is revenue sharing and no threat of relegation it's much more difficult for small market teams. With free agency a player is nearly always going to choose to play in Los Angeles or New York rather than Milwaukee or Detroit.

Precisely, and with the modern footballer basically being the sort of guy who sees living in a certain place, a certain style ...being just as important as what he does in that place.......you are always - with exceptions a la Aguero- going to have a movement of players away from the grit and into the "cooler" places.

Yeah there's just no way to have a "solution" let alone one that would even get 51% approval. You can't realistically expect a club from Riga to be consistently competitive with one from London or Madrid.

Trying to find a perfect system that everybody is happy with is a red herring though. There are many things that can be implemented.

A strict (and small) small limit on the amount of players a team can own for starters. None of this having dozens of players and putting them out on loan. If you don't think the player is ready to even be on your bench they can't have a contract with you. Secondly have a minimum amount of nationals of the country's league required in the match day squad. It would limit the amount of foreign mercenaries and force more investment on development.

Players would still get bought and sold but the transfer market wouldn't be big clubs acting like a kid in a candy store with their dad's credit card whilst simultaneously undermining smaller clubs from competing. The bigger richer teams will always have a huge advantage, but don't allow their financial clout alone be what's essentially the deciding factor in success.

Agreed. They've deliberately made the good the enemy of the best. Because we can't perfect the system, we won't try.

Then there is Sergio Aguero. He will try anything.

Some minor seasonal footnotes: Bruce and Newcastle stay up. Hodgson and Palace stay up.

It's looking like Sheffield, Fulsham and West Brom as we speak.

Apparently when Sanchez was choosing between offers from Liverpool & Arsenal, he took his wife to Liverpool. She was keen on high end shopping. She took one look around Liverpool and was like, "Oh, HELL no!"

And with that he signed for Arsenal.
