Let's hope. Although I don't give him much chance.

Benavidez Has Certainly Done Himself NO Favors, But Who's the BEST Super Middle in the World NOT Named Canelo, Currently, in YOUR Opinion???...

Who Gives Canelo a BETTER Fight @ '68???...Smith???...Saunders???...Plant???...Or Benavidez???...

Everyone KNOWS the Answer, Some are Just Reluctant to ADMIT It...

That's basically the same as asking for a catchweight, something Canelo conceded to for his fights with Mayweather and Cotto.

    REED Will Pick Canelo Also...

But Like Saunders, Plant Will Present a TACTICAL Obstacle; Only He's Taller, Longer and Faster Than Saunders...

    Nah, it's DIFFERENT...

AFTER the Weigh In Friday, Kovalev Had to Weigh In AGAIN Saturday Morning, to Fulfill the Terms of the Rehydration Clause...

Would YOU Rather Begin the Rehydration Process Immediately After the Friday Afternoon Weigh In OR 10-12 Hours Before FIGHTING Saturday Night???...

Neither Floyd Nor Cotto Made Canelo Do THAT...

I rate Benavidez and Plant basically the same. Neither one is definitively more impressive or accomplished than the other IMO.

Before Saturday, I would've given Benavidez as much of a chance of outhustling Canelo as I would Saunders of outslicking him.

Canelo-Benavidez would be a desirable fight no question, but I don't see Benavidez standing out as some kind of stylistic nightmare or definitive foil for Canelo.

Breaking somebodys eyesocket is more or less a freak injury, a 1 in 100 fight injury at best/worst. Yes Canelo mightve sparked him out anyway but there was no prior sign of it and we'll never know.

Could Spence be a future fight for Canelo?

Probably not. Not if he doesn't want a body on his record, anyway.

    Seems highly, highly, highly unlikely.

Canelo is staying at 168, and Spence is in his 30s and still hasn't left welterweight.

154 would be the max for Spence. He doesn't have the frame to compete at 160, let alone 68.

Canelo-Spence is a huge mismatch if EJ moved up. It'd be nothing more than a money grab for Spence, cause it would surely be the last fight of his career.

Spence doesn't have the mobility to avoid Canelo's offense, and Spence is a guy who relies on being physically stronger than his opponents - that advantage obviously goes out the window if he faced Canelo.

EJ would just be badly outgunned, and thats okay, it's not a slight against Spence. He's a welterweight.

    Ya never know.

It would probably draw the biggest crowd in the history of Cowboys stadium, and if assuming it was on Fox PPV, I think it would easily break 1 mil in buys.

So I guess it's always possible.

I think what's more likely is the possibility of Spence vs Ortiz. I don't think Spence is in a rush to fight Ennis.

Ennis has great eyes for a defensive specialist. His positioning is very reminiscent of old school guys like Loughran IMO. Excellent little talent.

If Bud and Spence are gonna get Ennis, the time would be NOW!

He's gonna be able to fuck both of them up by 2022.

Stylistically, I prefer Ortiz. He's more fun IMO, and with the right guidance, he can be a very effective aggressive fighter IMO. That power isn't gonna be put to waste by any proper trainer, but it also shouldn't be the only thing they look at. Teo being a top example of a guy who's great technically, but also has that power as an aside.

Ennis really looks like he develop into a beast. He puts Haney to shame.

Even though I trashed Saunders for quitting on Saturday, I (kinda) retract on it. Sure it would have been nice to see Saunders try to fight off Canelo at least for a short while after the injury instead of basically quitting right away, but this is what only a small, select breed of fighters would have done. Its unreasonable to expect this to be the default' case. Margarita did vs Pac and it not only basically ruined his career but also half of his vision. Vargas, iirc, never had to fight through this kind of injury, so even in his case we cannot guarantee he would have continued

Didn't Oscar fracture his orbital in the second-to-last round of their fight?

I don't remember hearing about it at the time but I did a Google search and some sources (of questionable merit I should say) claim it was the case

There was no reason for the security guard to act this aggressively toward an old man. Really out of step imo. When I worked as a bartender or security guard, I always hated those kind of meatheads. Would always turned confrontational situations into pure mayhem when a bit of people skills would defuse them 99% of the time.
