AJ by KO. Usyk is just not that good at heavyweight.

I'll root for Usyk though. It'd be hilarious if that big pretty boy stiff got clocked again.

Modern cruisers are the same size as the heavyweights of the 70s, but for some reason making the jump against these heavyweights seems to be difficult, even though most believe the modern heavyweights are not all that.

    Joshua by dec

Nice try, but I just think Usyk is extremely overrated, and not at all comparable to the 70s heavyweights.

There is a past cruiserweight that would wipe his ass with any heavyweight of today, and his name is Evander Holyfield.

It's not just about Usyk being too small. I don't see this generational type fighter in Usyk that others see.

You did rank Usyk top-5 p4p though, before he jumped up to heavyweight. So obviously he has some skills.

I am not suggesting he is as good as the heavyweights of the 70s. I am just pointing out that the heavyweights can be surprisingly difficult to beat even though they don't look good, because size does matter, even above 200 lbs

Usyk is a top 10 P4P, and I never said he doesn't have skills.

I don't see him as the generational great some see him as.

Any fighter naturally above 200 pounds has the ability to beat one of these super heavyweights if they're appreciably better.

I'm not picking Usyk over AJ because I don't think he has the chin to do it.

Doesn't mean I think AJ does favorably against the 70s crop just because he's bigger, because I would bet anything on Ali, Foreman, Frazier, and Holmes stopping AJ.

But if a top-10 p4p level (not generationally talented) guy, who is the same size as the greatest of heavyweights, isn't good enough to beat Joshua, doesn't that by default mean that AJ is pretty good? Even if he is a stiff robot.

    Define "pretty good."

AJ is alright. Offensively he's talented, and he obviously is a good puncher. Relatively speaking. He's not a Lewis/Tyson level puncher, but he can hit.

I think his D and chin are trash, and he's a dumb guy.

But Joshua is big enough to beat most heavyweights in history between 205-215.

The exceptions of course being a Louis, Frazier, Liston, Ali, Tyson, Holy, Holmes.

AJ is about the same level as Witherspoon, Byrd, Norton and co IMO.

I think an in-shape Spoon would beat the living fuck outta AJ.

But probably more accurately, Spoon clocks him late just like he did Bruno.

We are not far off here, even if we don't agree word for word.

The conclusion I would make here is that since AJ isn't the best heavyweight today and since it would take guys of that level to beat him, then the level of heavyweights isn't as trashy as often proclaimed.

Apparently usyk is the favorite son of Ukraine. And lomachenko is an afterthought, even prior to the Lopez loss
