Bayliss is a fucking horrible ref, Taylor would have had a chance to stop him the ref hadn't fucked around wasting time.

I wonder if Bayliss is bent or just slowing down badly, or both a la Joe Cortez.

He was on Taylors fucking case all night too, threatened to take a point off at one stage

Taylor does have that skinny person power, doesn't he? He fairly pushed that uppercut into Ramirez and sent him flying.

For a brief period he seemed like one of the best around but that was quite some time ago. He's been pretty bad for years now.

I honestly thinkk it is ageing. He's pushing 60, right?

People got to bear in mind that the referee has to get in there and move around for 36 minutes too, watching intently, making calls and generally staying on top of things.

Bayliss probably isn't corrrupt he's just finding it harder to carry out routine assignments and he showed that when he tried to wipe off the gloves etc.

I m not much of a fan of Bayless, but in those cases, he was justified. Taylor was basically in Ramires face while he was counting

Yeah, it's fucking ridiculous that we get those old ass judges and referees in boxing. And in most case, they were only put there because they were ''connected'' and knew the right person (not because they were competent). Correct me if I'm wrong but we don't have elderly umpires/refs in any other major sports (though boxing ain't really a major sport to be honest).

Yeah i'm not sure if there are mandatory retirement ages in other other sports like there is for passenger airline pilots. I guess you could argue that it doesn't take as much cardio to ref a boxing match as it does for a hockey or football game, but age still matters. Tennis umps just sit in a chair but they shouldn't have senior citizens doing it either.

It's basically like you said about connections. Certain guys are "trusted" and therefore get all the big gigs. I don't think it would matter if some geezer keeled over and died on a major PPV. The "solution" to that would be something like a additional physicals needed to be signed off on for officials. (of course these would be performed by a connected and trusted doctor)

Bayless Jumped the Shark Around the Time He Became Floyd's PREFERRED Ref...

He was AWFUL Last Night for Sure; Couldn't Figure Out If He Wanted to ALLOW Infighting or Not and Likely ROBBED Taylor of a KO Win...

"The referee is there to protect the fighters." Bayless often decided that one was more worthy of that protection than the other.

Taylor-Ramirez was a Fairly Entertaining Fight as Is, But Bayless Definitely DETRACTED From It...For the Greater Good of Boxing's Entertainment Value, Last Night Should Be the FINAL Main Event of his Career...

Bayless' Talents/Style was Better Suited to the Zepeda-Lundy Bout...

I would try to bank on this win RIGHT NOW if I were Taylor. If he can't entice Fimo or Lomachenko to move to 140, maybe Mikey Garcia. And pack a soccer stadium in Scotland or England against one of those three.

Funny thing about the Zepeda fight is that Lundy was brought in because the commission ruled the original opponent was not up to snuff. But Lundy was shot as hell.

It was the WORST of Both Worlds - A SHOT Fighter vs. a Guy Tooooooooo INSECURE to Exploit a Clear Opportunity...

It's WISE to Play it Safe Sometimes, But Zepeda-Lundy Wasn't One of Those Times...

Lundy's Legs were SHIT from the Very 1st Round, and a Concerted Effort to Land MORE Than 1 Shot @ a Time Would've Eventually Gotten Him OUT of There...

    For Sure...

I watched the card on delay. And I almost never do this, but I had to fast forward through Zepeda/Lundy. It was just shite. I wasn't too impressed by Elvis Rodriguez either.

Final thoughts: Last night confirmed what many of us already thought, that Prograis is a better fighter than Ramirez. Their respective performances again Taylor clearly show this.

I looked into being a boxing judge in Vegas. There was a 10-15 year waiting list. All old timers taking the spots.

the NSAC instituted a weight limit on judges, this waiting list shit is a ruse.

Ramirez has a basic look about him. Sort of Danny Garcia Lite. Doesn't do anyhthing too badly, doesn't do anything too well.

Taylor didn't strike me as being too fucking hot either. :Jest:

A tidy efficient fighter with a bit of pop and a nice skill set. Smooth. Southpaw is a bonus, usually.

But he's lucky he is in the era he is.

Mike Garcia has no business at 10 stone. NONE.

I'd love to see Taylor take on Lopez. I think he'd take him.

And I'd make Taylor no worse than evens vs Loma..........no worse than evens. He's just too big for him.

Right now he could do a stadium fight over there against a UK domestic that's ranked in the top 15 or so. I don't know how Luke Canpbell is doing since the Loma loss. Or my boy, ex champ, Flanagan. Or maybe a bigger name. He could do that in Sep/Oct and then shoot for the big fight maybe for next March or so.

I wouldn't move up unless there's a problem making weight. He's got four belts at 140 and holds all the cards now.

For certain, we need something big this Summer. To re-establish the "Normality" and because Furry vs Wilder/Desert Bollox has destroyed the big Wembley fight that was supposed to be happening.

I remember when Shay Neary fought Andy Holligan in a big tent in the middle of Stanley Park in the late 1990's...... winner probably was the best 10 stoner in England :Jest:

Never mind the Loma loss, Campbell went and got beat by Ryan "Mi Cabeza" Garcia since that. Taylor would blitz him. No questions.

    Luke Campbell.....

Believe me....you get the right opponent- some hapless Irish bum- and they'd do a stadium fight in Dublin. One of the smaller grounds. People would watch paint dry at this stage :Jest:
