Haney-Garcia would be a competitive fight. The two of them split 4 fights in the amateurs. Lopez is just a different caliber compared to both of them.
Yeah but the pro game is more suited to Garcia style. While it might be competitive in the beginning, i dont think haney has anything to keep garcia off him
These LDBC clowns better stop hyping Haney, as they keep pretending he's the best young, black fighter. It's painfully obvious that Boots Ennis is on a different planet from Haney.
Same. Both 11 and 12 he simply held. Shoulda lost points- which may have forced him to fight and get KTFO’d. He was 1 combo away for the last 6 minutes. He is a brutal KO waiting to happen.
Haney kept repeating “he hit me with a big shot, i wasnt hurt” over and over in the post fight interview... hmmm
Devin "Free Hugs" Haney was kind enough to reach out to Linares with 20 seconds left with open arms and grip him tightly into a free hug.
It's Called the "Hurt Business" for a Fucking REASON...@ ELITE Level, You've Gotta Be Able to HURT People Or Present the THREAT of Such, if NATHAN Else... If a Fighter is GUARANTEED to Score a KO, He's EASY to Market...If a Fighter is GUARANTEED to Register UD 12's, He's HARDER to Market... Andre Ward is the U.S.' Last Olympic Boxing Gold Medalist, Retired UNDEfuckingFEATED...The Reason Ward's NOT a Household American Name is Because He Couldn't HURT People Consistently... Sadly, Haney's KO % Will Dip Fuuuuuuurther and Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurther as he Moves Up in Weight... REED
Hes still very young though. Maybe hell get his men strength and his power will improve, but i dont count on it
Serious?? I mean, yeah Haney looked rather KO’able in there, but he still demonstrated excellent world-class skills. Fimo would be the favorite of course, but in a much closer odds fight than the one we just saw. My guess is Haney doesnt try that ‘alpha dog’ thing where he’s going around the ring crouched head first asserting his territory. It worked great for a bit until it didn’t. I enjoyed watching Haney fight, and would like to see him against Lopez, even if there is a pretty good chance he gets put to sleep. He’d be a live underdog for sure.
I agree look Linares was able to drop Loma who had a close fight with Lopez. If anything Haney showed hes not a fraud. He got hurt and did the right thing, he has a great jab, he won most rounds rather easily against a decent former champ who can bang. I wouldnt count Haney out. Hes right up there with Tank, Garcia and Lopez. Can he beat them? Probably not but could pull the upset.
Judging by this performance, I'd be more worried by his lack of chin than is his lack of power. Even worse, he was about to get Linaresed by Linares (well, I supposed getting Linaresed could also mean getting blitz in a round by a journeyman). It might be a fluke but that's definitely something I would be concerned about if I was on Haney's bandwagon
I think Haney is the worst of the five at lightweight. Teo, Loma, Tank and Ryan all beat him, IMO. I'd also say that Stevenson is better and so are Taylor and Prograis. Haney didn't impress me at all tonight. Quick hands, decent defence but nothing else.
Enjoyed that, Linares tough as always but Haney outclassed him in his own yard with his angles at close range....he's at 6 o'clock, hes at 7 o'clock, hes at 4 o clock all in range. Made for great exchanges. As will Haney's evident instinct to go forward and get deeper into it whenever he gets buzzed....the big one could be an outright classic.
Shakur is pretty clearly better. There's sparring footage of the two of them, where Stevenson is handling Haney easily.
Half this fucking forum could lie down on a Shrinks couch and the dudes notebook would be filled with the same word, over and over and over......... "Ottke"
I've not seen much of Shakur because he bores the fuck out of me and I don't like him. I just didn't wanna say anything with too much conviction when I could just be talking absolutely shite.
Ottke really wasn't that bad of a fighter. Relatively speaking. He wasn't a super middle great, but he wasn't a scrub either. He had skill.
It's amazing how he haunts this place though. I was all sported-out after the soccer final yesterday so I will have a look at the last few rounds of the HAney fight to see how much trouble he really had.
DAZN commentary with the hilarity, once again. "Devon Haney doing his bit to get the KO. He is coming forward and going into his bag of tricks". .............gets absolutely lit up and staggers back to his corner..... then the same guy is like...... "that's the punch I knew was gonna be the money punch....." literally making it up as they go along
Look, is there currently a bigger "NAME" fighter with more miles on the clock and less of a chance of winning any "BIG" fight than Linares? Haney should be putting these shop work dudes away. Instead, he's dominating, then clinging on.
