I didn't see the fight last night, but damn, if he can't beat a journeyman level guy like Arias... I think Hurd might now be a stepping stone level guy moving forward Seems HIGHLY doubtful that he'll ever again reach the level he was at pre-JRock. He just never learned the concept of defense.
The writing was on the wall years ago when Austin Trout was hitting him at will before gassing out late. You knew his D would bite him in the ass one day.
For sure nobody was expecting a very long career for Hurd. Still, he looked like a monster vs Lara, and two fights later, seems completely shot
What Sucks is People Actually WANT to Like Jarrett Hurd... He's a Good Natured, Down to Earth Dude...Lived w/His Parents Until He WON a World Title...Confident w/Out Being DEMEANING To Opponents, Fan-Friendly Style...Willingness to Face ANYBODY... It's Not That He DIDN'T Want to Face Jermell Charlo; He DID!!!...But Hurd Insisted on a Hometown Title Defense 1st, Which He LOST (J-Rock)...And JUST When He's Positioned Himself Back Near the TOP of the List to Vie for the Undisputed Super Welter Title (After Charlo-Castano), Hurd Loses AGAIN... Hurd's Defense is Soooooooooooo BAD, it Makes REED Wonder if He Has Full VISION In His Left Eye, Because Dude NEVER Sees Right Hands Coming...EVER...Never BRACES For Them, PARRY Them or Anything; Takes 'em All FLUSH... It Would Actually Make MORE Sense if Hurd Had a DROOPY Left Eyelid, ala, David Reid...But He DOESN'T... REED
Hurd? I thought he'd probably beat Williams but I gave Williams more of a shot than most and that fight certainly appears to have broken him. Guys like him don't react well once their punch resistance is broken He had some good victories overall
I would still like to see Hurd fight a guy like Fundora. Hurd would give us an idea of Fundora's true worth.
