It seems like most of the same people here have been posting for 15-20 yrs on these pages. As we've aged, we've gotten well past the point of being or dealing with obnoxious fanboys. But from back in the day, the two most annoying groups to me were Hamed fans and Tyson fans (and in many cases, people liked both of them.) I don't know if it was because they were KO artists or what but they both attracted a shitload of WWE/ comic book type of rejects as fans. Repetitive, predictable, loudmouth cunts who knew jack shit about boxing.
On sheer size, "till this day" there's never been anything on forums as big as the Trinidad cult was. Hopkins killed 10,000 people that night.
How bout who's the most polarizing fighter in forum history? I would say its without a doubt Roy. Roy had both a legion of cult-like groupies, and an equally big crew of posters who truly despised him. It was a crazy time, the Roy era on here. The Floyd era on forums was never as exciting.
I am not trying to pick a fight here, and I fully understand I am outnumbered in this subject, but to me, the "boxing doesn't develop" -cult is puzzling, and somewhat annoying. There are numerous fans who are smart, knowledgeable people who are convinced that the sport hasn't changed at all since 20s 30s or 40s. If that were the case, boxing should be totally exceptional from any other known sport. It would especially mean that both physicality and strategical abilities should play a very minor role in boxing, as these aspects have developed by leaps and bounds in all other sports.
Don't get me started on Manuel Medina fans!!! JK It is weird how some Mexican fighters have legions of fans and then you have guys like Medina that have won several belts, fought dozens of champions and ex champions in all corners of the world and has about twelve fans worldwide.
Floyd and Wilder fans are the worst for me. Maybe Wilder slightly more so because at least Floyd is a legitimately great boxer. The excuses from Wilder fans after the Fury rematch were pathetic, not to mention the fact he encouraged it himself. I found it kinda disgusting as I hate to see anybody not given due credit for a victory, in any sport.
Boxing Fanatics Wasn't as OVERTLY Racist and the Knowledge on the Site was Polar Opposite, But They Were EVERY Bit as BIASED for Mexican Fighters as East Side Was for Euro Fighters... JMM Better Than Roy Jones???...Yeah, OK... REED
Petre TG was Captain of the Tua Bandwagon... 1nce Tua's Tysonesque AURA Fully Evaporated, Petre Talked Less and LESS About Boxing... REED
Yeah, REED Was Regularly Berated w/Slurs by the Likes of ArkoShark and Some Clown Named Bruce, Who SWORE Up and Down He Was Black... REED
Yep... That and the LACK of Knowledge or the Least Bit of Objectivity is When REED Kicked East Side to the Curb for Good...REED Only Went There for the Homey JayDawg Anyways... REED
Yup. I remember. I was one of the Tua bandwagon, just not the delusional kind. Petre was actually one of the first posters I bonded with, believe it or not. We were cool because of our mutual Tua fandom. I think it was that fucking clueless idiot Ron Borges who penned an article before the Lewis fight saying that Tua would KO a PRIME Tyson inside of 3. The Tua hype was crazy.
The quality got better over the years, but truthfully, the only quality posters at Eastside are guys like George, Tin, Roughdiamond, Clinton, Jel, Grey, ect. With all of them here now, I don't frequent there as much.
No Doubt... The ONLY Reason REED Had "Planet Roy" is Because Cupey Wanted NO RJ Topics on the General Forum Whatsoever...NONE, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA!!!... REED was a PROUD RJ Groupie and Still Has a TimeShare Located Just East of Roy's Left Ball Sack...Ya'll Musta 4-Got!!!... REED
Cupey was the third biggest Roy hater. Rebel was the second biggest, and of course, Valentino was the biggest Roy hater there's ever been.
I can't believe you were able to stick around that place long enough to notice improvement. I may have visited that place during it's lowest period but it was at the time home to people who weren't even trying to hide that they were nazis. It was around 2002 or so. The "N" word was all over that forum, unchecked, just another day at ESB. Some Euro guy was telling other people on a thread that white Americans need to take up arms and take their country back. It wasn't joking around or trolling. It was just pure hatred.
Yeah, I'm a tyson fan, but he does attract a lot of miserable souls. They watch a few highlights of him on fb, dont know shit about the sport, and cant stop claiming hes tbe
I find British boxing fandom in general quite nauseating. The thing with them is for the most part it’s not wild over the top nuthuggery that we see with Floyd and the likes (except when it comes to live events then they suddenly show up in droves waving flags, painted bodies, drunk as fuck and all that), but rather it’s a soft-spoken, matter of fact type of idolatry where they seem to find a way to justify why and how their guy is truly one of the greats but they just came up short because of x,y,z and that simply cant be held against them and it’s being worked on etc. Like the stars have aligned somehow to limit them right when they are at the precipice of greatness… when the reality is in fact the opposite and it’s the very same blind fanaticism that has driven alot of these guys to overachieve and be held at levels a rung (or 2) higher than they truly belong. That’s all
Ive had swarms of midget worshippers attack me when they realized I wasnt part of their cult. Im sorry but I could give two fucks about noodle and straw weights. Ill be the first one to admit it im a casual when it comes to lower weight classes. Just cause I dont suck thai and hispanic midget cock 24/7 dont make me an over all boxing casual. I dont watch women boxing either does that make me a casual too?
I noticed that like the excuses they made about Saunders not training seriously. As if he had only been more disciplined he wouldnt have had his face caved in. Or how Smith only fought with one arm for the entire fight due to a pre fight injury. Brittish fighters are the unluckiest fighters ever according to their fans .
