TBE meaning "the best ever?"

Absolutely. I think lightweight Duran has as good an argument as any as being the best fighter who ever lived.

 

I was about to post a “the greatest living boxer turns 70” thread but X beat me to it.

 

If I had to pick ONE fight where I watched and said "This is the best fighter I've ever seen," it would have to be Duran-DeJesus III.

Duran in that fight was the most complete fighting machine there's ever been.

So yeah, I think he's TBE.

 

I always mention that when people talk about the greatest defensive performances ever.

Duran was fighting with a controlled aggression and had Dejesus swinging at air all night. And often times, Dejesus would be punished for his miss by taking a brutal counter to his ribs.

 

A Duran body shot lifted DeJesus off the canvas at one point.

 

Duran is the best ever. Undisputed.
