Nabbed this from ESB. Which twenty would you wanna see in there with eachother? Joshua and Ronaldo is the obvious choice, so that's off the list.
Going with matchups that i think would be entertaining in various ways no matter who came out on top. (for example Ali-Tyson and Hagler-Monzon would be "dream fights" but i don't think they would be particularly exciting) Also using each fighter only once. Chavez-Arguello Frazier-Holyfield Duran-Pryor Pacquiao-Sanchez Robinson-Leonard Golovkin-Pavlik Tyson-Foreman Napoles-Gavilan Hagler-Toney Trinidad-Quartey
Yeah, I should've specified. This is in terms of pure entertainment, not just historical significance or spectacles. If given the choice between watching Duran vs Robinson or Kelley vs Paez, I know which one I'd take. But that ruins all the fun, so be creative and pick the best brawls you can. My list: #10. Tatsuyoshi vs Seabrooks #09. Rodriguez Jr. vs Yaegashi #08. Jorge Paez vs Kevin Kelley #07. Tae Shik Kim vs Charlie Magri #06. Carl Thompson vs Vasllly Jirov #05. Gaspar Ortega vs John H Stracey #04. Carmen Basilio vs Rocky Graziano #03. Joe Frazier vs Evander Holyfield #02. Myung-Woo Yuh vs Jacob Matlala #01. Bobby Chacon vs Arturo Gatti HM: to about 100 SBW fights, and Bernal vs Montero.
I remember doing 10 before, but I can't find my list. Marciano vs Dempsey has always been the dream fight I've pondered on. Such a war, yet I'm undecided on the outcome.
In no order: Spinks vs Foster Liston vs Frazier Tyson vs Foreman Duran vs Pryor Jackson vs Trinidad Carlos Ortiz vs JCC Sanchez vs Saldivar Zarate vs Olivares Gomez vs Jofre Little Red vs Fenech
Hamed vs Paez Pryor vs Whitaker Chavez vs Sanchez Hearns vs Trinidad Tua vs Golota L. Bramble vs Judah V. Klitchko vs W. Klitchko Curry vs Spence H. Gonzalez vs R. Lopez Corrales vs A. Nelson
Hopkins vs Toney Cotto vs Hatton Whitaker vs Camacho Pacquiao vs Pryor Tyson vs Holmes(prime) Chavez vs Pryor Floyd vs Duran Hagler vs GGG Hearns vs SRR Ali vs Holyfield
I always wanted to see tua vs tyson. Sad that at this point of his career, tyson wasnt willing to test himself (except for huge money fights)
I remember your old quote. "Cotto & Hatton should just fight each other at their natural weight. 190."
A few others just for the helluva it: R.Lopez vs Chang Arguello vs Sanchez Gilberto Roman vs Johnny Tapia Corrales vs Mancini Lionel Rose vs Miguel Lora Masao Ohba vs Yuri Arbachakov Gomez vs Fenech @ 122
Marquez vs. Morales Benitez vs. Pryor Trinidad vs. McCallum Arguello vs. Chavez Duran vs. Pacquiao Gatti vs. Molina
Some of those super-bantam fights I'd wanna see. They'd be absolutely unbelievable. Just a few I can whip up off the top of my head. Michael Brodie vs Naoto Takahashi Daniel Zaragoza vs Welcome Ncita Paul Banke vs Nestor Garza Jeff Fenech vs Erik Morales Kennedy McKinney vs Soo Hwan Hong Juan Jose Estrada vs Israel Vazquez Juanma Lopez vs Ki Joon Lee Rafel Marquez vs Victor Callejas Wilfredo Vasquez vs Sergio Palma Thierry Jacob vs Mahyar Monshipour Wayne McCullough vs Ponce De Leon Kiyoshi Hatanaka vs Joichiro Tatsuyoshi
I listed them with the winners first, for the most part. I agree, Estrada has too much firepower for Vazquez IMO, who's a too hittable. It'd be an absolute war, though.
Roberto Duran vs Jose Napoles Ricardo Lopez vs Roman Gonzalez Sung Kil Moon vs Khaosai Galaxy Carlos Zarate vs Eder Jofre Johnny Tapia vs Mark Johnson Manny Pacquiao vs Aaron Pryor Juan Manuel Marquez vs Edwin Rosario Alexis Arguello vs Julio Cesar Chavez Salvador Sanchez vs Vicente Saldivar Daniel Zaragoza vs Lupe Pintor Jeff Fenech vs Orlando Canizales Felix Trinidad vs Julian Jackson Mike McCallum vs Terry Norris
I was thinking about the matchup I'd MOST wanna see outta those I listed, and I think the answer would be Gomez vs Jofre, as it'd be a battle between the two best guys in history below 126.
Disagree. Harada conclusively showed he was better than Jofre IMO. In terms of achievements, Jimmy Wilde is unequivocally the best fighter below featherweight. I've always thought Olivares was better than Jofre as well. I'd actually rather see Gomez vs Fenech. Not because it's a 'better' fight, in the sense of a higher combined level, but just because the action would be insane. Actually, Jofre vs Fenech @122 would be pretty fucking good too.
Jofre was weight drained and it showed. I do not believe for a SECOND that Harada could have handled the Jofre from Medel 1.
Fenech was less sophisticated than Harada. I'd be inclined to think that Jofre would take Fenech apart.
The difference between the version who fought Medel and the one who fought Harada is tiny. It's there on film. Even Jofre himself didn't think the weight drain affected him. If anything, Jofre being a massive at bantamweight should be a positive for Harada since he was coming up from flyweight.
Roberto Duran vs Jose Napoles - Duran stoppage Ricardo Lopez vs Roman Gonzalez - Chocolatito decision Sung Kil Moon vs Khaosai Galaxy - Galaxy decision Carlos Zarate vs Eder Jofre - Jofre decision Johnny Tapia vs Mark Johnson - Too Sharp decision Manny Pacquiao vs Aaron Pryor - Pac stoppage Juan Manuel Marquez vs Edwin Rosario - JMM stoppage Alexis Arguello vs Julio Cesar Chavez - Arguello decision Salvador Sanchez vs Vicente Saldivar - Saldivar decision Daniel Zaragoza vs Lupe Pintor - Pintor decision Jeff Fenech vs Orlando Canizales - Fenech decision Felix Trinidad vs Julian Jackson - Trinidad stoppage Mike McCallum vs Terry Norris - McCallum stoppage
I disagree. I see an appreciable difference between the Medel fight Jofre and the Harada fight Jofre. Jofre was far quicker and sharper against Medel. Considering that it was already a close fight, I don't see how Harada beats the Jofre of 4 years earlier.
Pre-prison Tony Ayala Jr vs Matthew Hilton is a matchup I would have loved to see. Or either one of those guys versus Jose Luis Lopez. Oh, and a BIG dream matchup of mine I forgot... Dick Tiger vs Rodrigo Valdez.
