That guy was working, he's just run from an adjacent site in response to some sort of an jibe from the high viz mob. He's wearing rigger boots and Dickies work pants. He's not taken a day off at all. He's taken 2 minutes off.

The high viz Mob are all railway or highway workers, pussies basically

Lol nae cunt wants to win this...

Should Switzerland prevail...the Swiss will have beaten France and Spain and probably wont even reach the final having been all over the place....Baku , Rome, Petersburg.

England's biggest win should they reach the final will be a conservative effort against a belaboured Gemany having basically played at home along the way.

    Feel sorry for the Swiss.

None of their usual bollox this time.

The sending off effectively robbed them

Never a penalty. Two shocking decisions tonight. Keown assumes the position and argues for.

Lucky overrated Martinez gets a reprieve. Best team in the World? Not on the evidence of that 45. The technicality of the Italians is beyond that of most of what I've seen so far

That referee seemed like he was in some weird positions. I slept through the first half but a couple of times at the end he seemed like he was right in the way when Belgium were attacking. Even when KDB won that free kick, he had to double clutch (on the shot where he was fouled) because it looked like he wanted to shoot or pass right where the ref was standing.

I think Belgium's window is shut.

I read that their U-21 & U-19 teams are both shockingly horrible.

I know there are always soft and questionable calls but has there been a penalty in all of his history that hasn't been protested? A player could be all alone in the box and a defender rushes towards them and literally punches the guy in the face knocking them unconscious.

Faster than the speed of light the defending team surrounds the ref "oh come on you can't call that!!!"

    Perhaps before the TV era.

I don't know why they do it anymore- the VAR and Referee are both broadly inured to the bs rantings and proceed accordingly.

Presumably the only reason to do it is to somehow get the referee to thing "OH I made a mistake there, I better pay them back"........which is why two penalties for the same side in the same game is so rare, even though the grounds for same are not AS rare.

For what it is worth, Italian gamesmanship aside [and they were RIGHT on it tonight] .........I have my doubts about that penalty tonight in the Belgium vs Italy game.

That's kind of what i think as well but generally refs try to do that anyway. Even if every call is objectively correct (or as close as can be) you know they don't personally want to make the big decisions going all one way. The appearance of impropriety is more important than accuracy when emotions are running high.

Kind of a separate issue but i've always wanted games to be reviewed afterward and punishments handed out regardless of what the call on the field was. Particularly in the cases of diving and the like. Immobile was a disgrace. It won't eradicate the problem but if players know they can't just escape punishment because something was missed they won't attempt to con the officials quite as often.

Agreed. I don't know anything about their youth squads but I agree it appears their chance has come and gone. They have enough talent to beat anyone in the world on a given night, but a tournament is a different story.

I can assure you right now that England has nothing to worry about it.

Jordan "The Pix Daddy" Pickford is not going to let anything get by him.

This match will be revenge for Dynamo Kyiv knocking Everton out of the Europa League Round of 16 in 2015.

Ugh. I hope he's basically a non-factor just so we don't have to listen to all the EPL and Man U narratives.

    Couple of observations :

    * the gulf in talent is immense, England really, technically , are much better, they should be farther ahead.

*England get shaky everytime there is activity around their box, it reminds me a bit of the Columbua game 3 years ago.
