Shame because we were coming on to a better game than i expected to see...if we can hold on to the lead i think we'll be ok over there, by that point we should hopefully have a few in and be a less leaky vessel

Nah. He was one of the players that was going to be sold no matter who the manager was. Even though he had a better season than he did in 19/20. Iwobi, Tosun, Bernard and Delph to follow. Delph will be a free. He and Gbamin have spent two seasons soaking in hot tubs nursing injuries.

Barkas is preposterously shite- ive literally not seen him make a save in 12 months & he had to actively go out his way to keep that streak going with the equalizer last night. Somebody should make sure he's not paid off by a bookies.

Greg Taylor. Neat tidy and backwards every time. Then the next time. Then the next time. Neat control, neat turn, backwards.

Anthony Ralston. Would be a good squad player for St Johnstone.

Arsenal pulled out of the Florida Cup at the last minute due to COVID cases. Everton are still flying over soon. I think they're looking for a USL or MLS replacement for Arsenal.

I doubt many people care outside of gooners supporters. When clubs do these foreign tours the best players sometimes don't make the trip or only play in the closing minutes of the match. Arsenal don't even have those star names that neutrals really would like to witness live even for a short stretch.

They apparently already have a shitload of fans in Orlando. Everton fans are pouring in. I went to both of Everton's California games in '13 but I can't see going across the country for exhibition games.

Right. I thought so too. The tournament was planned when it all looked like everything was going to get better and better. As of a few days ago, 20% of the cases in the US are coming out of Florida.

Now Inter Milan have backed out due to COVID risks. Apparently the Florida Cup is trying to get an MLS and a college team as replacements. I heard their website is getting crushed with refund demands from Inter and Arsenal fans. I am so glad I didn't go to this. What a fucking mess.

Celtic's whole season was a slowmo car crash but the coup de grace for us was losing ~5 players to self isolation on a pointless winter break to Dubai. The week of the last-chance-saloon old firm game no less. Total madness

Celtic's on the ball again! Feeling optimistic, a couple of genuinely promising signings in, The Don seems like he's a war time Don.

Just TAKE ME TO YOUR PARADISE I WANT TO SEE THE JUNGLE!

This heat is mental. Disappointed in my studying this week, I took the week off to go intensive on it but it's just been too hot in my room. Got a fan but can't turn it on because it drowns out the sound due to my shitty hearing. Hopefully it cools down a bit tomorrow.

So i'm just glancing at football news, scores and such. Come across this headline:

Did COVID-19 protocols affect the USWNT?

I guess the women's team were supposed to be big favorites and got trounced by Sweden. Didn't bother reading the article because it seems to follow this trend of "trying to find answers" (excuses) when the bigger and more favored side loses.

Did the groundskeeper not prepare the pitch properly? Did the team nutritionist not do proper food prep? Does the the bus driving them to the venue need more comfortable seats? Did the selection of the person singing the national anthem mess with their concentration? Was it a mistake to put a Sagittarius in the central midfield role when statistics show it's better to go with a Libra?

I have my own tinfoil hat theory. Maybe in an athletic competition one side simply performed better on that particular day? I'm not willing to die on that hill, just a theory i'm throwing out there.

Its that and then some. Like everything else, USWNT is politicised like fuck, so when they got el spankoed, there had to be ulterior forces involved. Dark uncontrollable forces... Malevolent force-multipliers from the netherworld.

The USWNT players themselves appear to have been far more direct about it.

    :Jest:

I think we here on this forum should let Everton know right now if we'd never take the managerial role. Wouldn't want to lead them on. That's just not nice.

I get the point and the excuses are ridiculous. But I think women's football is a little more predictable than men's football. And the USWNT doesn't lose very often and they just don't lose like that.

I've no beef with Everton or Benitez, great club and an excellent manager, but their signings have been absolutely bizarre I have to say. Benitez has always been a great tactician but a little inept in the transfer market but even still...Townsend and Gray? It's like they're prepping for a relegation battle when they were meant to be adding the finishing touches to a proper push for the top four. Just don't get it.

The plan was to sell about six players and bring in replacements. Gylfi was supposed to be the first sold but he refused the transfer to Saudi Arabia (perhaps he's a racist as well. Jk) Iwobi, Tosun, Delph and a few others are sure to be sold and then hopefully we can see something happening.

I'll say this. The two summers that Everton splashed the cash (one under Martinez, one under Koeman) we played like hammered shit the first half of those seasons.

It really made the fans notice how Moyes kept us competitive with no money for all of those years. Of course the league has changed since then.

I get that but they started the season great and were well on the pace before they got a few injuries and the whole thing collapsed completely.
