Obviously Chavez is #1, but who's number two?

The two who stand out in my mind are the Jose Luis': Ramirez and Castillo. Of those, I'd rate Ramirez higher. However, am I forgetting anyone? Would you argue that Castillo is higher than Ramirez? I suppose you could argue that Castillo deserves a win over Mayweather, whereas Ramirez's win over Pea was bollocks and go from there. Castillo was never beaten as handedly as Ramirez was by Castillo IMO.

Btw, Duran doesn't count. And neither does Napoles.

I dont see JLC as a lock over Ramirez. It would be a competitive fight.

i'm saying, forced to choose, i go with castillo. hence, he is the better LW given their resumes are comparable. that's my opinion.

i don't think mag's resume at 135 supports this claim.

Matter fact, I wouldn't necessarily favor Castillo over MAG.

Miguel Angel is HIGHLY underrated. He's rarely ever spoken about, unless people are discussing his losses to DLH and Tszyu. And Castillo was not in the same league as a DLH or Tszyu.

I see MAG vs Castillo as a pick em at 135.

I don't think Tzsyu is in a higher class than Castillo (Hoya is obviously higher though). In fact, I'd rate Castillo higher, by a clear margin to booth. Castillo resume is far more impressive and he arguably won (in fact, most think he did) vs a guy most rate in the top 20 of all time. He did not have the longevity of Tszyu, this is true, but this is mostly because of his style and that he was consistently in wars (once again, because of his high level of opposition).

the reason he is rarely talked about is the same reason juan lazcano is rarely talked about.

You can't compare the two at all. I know you love Lazcano, but he was nothing special.

MAG was a level above Lazcano as a fighter.

h2h would've been a great fight. gonzalez doesn't have wins over anyone all that good. basically lost to every top guy he faced.

Marquez was going life and death with Diaz and Katsidis.

Marquez would have had his hands full with Miguel Angel Gonzalez, and would lose to Gato Gonzalez at 135.

Marquez didn't have the physical tools of the junior welter Oscar, nor did he have the physical strength and firepower of Tszyu.

I don't see why you're so high on gonzalez. As DL said, he never beat anyone elite, and he got destroyed when he upped his opposition. Id argue that lazcano win over an old Johnston is better than whatever MAGO did

Even the old Chavez that Gonzalez drew with would beat the fuck outta Lazcano.

Juan Lazcano was not a top fighter at all.

Does anybody see Lazcano giving a prime Oscar a rough fight?

Oscar would have blown Lazcano out the water inside of 4.
