I think Pep is tactically astute, the amount of great footballers who attest to it has to count for something. However, yeah I just can't call him great. Let's be honest he's never going to take over the reins at a club which isn't already dominant, maybe if he does something at international level.

 

I think he expressed some interest in the Brazil job many a year back. Not sure how serious he was. Brazil aren't the force they once were but still a huge talent pool to select from. Much more bureaucracy and people set in their ways managing a national team than a club one 95% of the time though.

 

I'd actually give him credit if he won a World Cup with Brazil. This is the worst crop of Brazilian footballers I've ever known.

From the little i've read so far Messi and Barcelona agreed to all the terms. FFP and Barcelona's current finances say they simply can't afford it. Some talk now of maybe La Liga intervening as they've lost Neymar, Ronaldo and possibly now Messi who are probably the three biggest names globally. So from that perspective it's not just Barcelona who take a hit but the league. Revenue sharing from TV rights, etc etc.

Not sure how fans of other Spanish teams feel but i would be pissed if they stepped in to "help". RM and Barca have used their status and finances to raid smaller clubs for years.

I don't know if it's a godsend. From the bits i've been reading Barcelona have been poorly managed for a while now and the current president can't believe some of the mess he's inherited. Some talk of them maybe not being able to register the new signings of Aguero and Depay. If that's actually true CL football might be considered a success rather than a given. Hard to imagine the competition without them.

 

Aguero bought a half million dollar Ferrari two days ago after arriving in Barcelona. Now after the Messi/Barca news his lawyers are reviewing the terms of his contract to see if there's anything he can do to get out of it.
