Whitaker close UD. Just as skilled but more talented. It'd likely be more entertaining to think about than it is to watch.
Agreed with every word. Ortiz would push him close, though. He was highly adaptable and intelligent, and he was effective against southpaws. So, this wouldn't be like facing Haugen or Nelson. But yeah, I think Pea is brilliant enough to win it.
Ortiz has shown to be effective against speedy outboxers like Laguna, Brown, and Elorde. Could be a tight, close bout but I think Whitaker will prevail in the end. Whitaker just has more tools and tricks in his arsenal against a skilled and intelligent fighter like Ortiz.
I do think Whitaker gets a little overrated at lightweight. His opposition wasn't stellar. I mean, it wasn't bad but his best win was really over a blown up super featherweight (albeit a great one). Ortiz met a much better level of opposition. Don't disagree that Sweet Pea might be a little too slick but Ortiz would give him by far and away the toughest fight of his career up to that point.
