Sort of looking forward, have Joshua. Usyk might have some moments. But he's a clunky guy. It's a question of how AJ handles a lefty with some brains. Usyk isnt really a smarty, he moves a lot, keep his hands up, he's not Chris Byrd. I think if Tony Bellew can casually land singles on Usyk then Joshua should too.
I'm a big Usyk fan, always have been. I'm looking forward to it, and I want him to win. Joshua's style is my favourite of the big three right now, and I dislike all of their personalities so I guess he'd be my favourite. I want Usyk to win, but am interested in seeing how he'll set about trying.
If you know me, you know I'm never ever excited for a heavyweight fight, and this is no exception. I'll watch though.
You've been sour on the heavyweight division ever since that blockbuster Ruiz-Byrd unification bout never transpired.
Josh off the gear it seems New AJ pics show heavyweight champ looking lean and mean in his best condition
Joshua will clean this Lurch Bot out and it will be celebrated like he'd just turned over Joe Frazier.
Usyks a good boxer. But he's a clunky cruiser. Any good Olympic SuperHvy Gold Medallist who was touted as the next $1Bn Athlete should be beating this guy.
It's no great achievement to beat Usyk at heavy. The list of heavyweights in history that would beat Usyk is overwhelming.
I still can't follow this narrative. Usyk has p4p level skills. The era overall is poor, but he has some solid attributes. Usyk at 6'3 220 lbs is the size of the best heavyweights of the history. Also the contenders of 80s were about the same size. Heavyweights are skilless, talentless, condition-lacking fat slobs whose extra size isn't helpful. Why hasn't Usyk taken over or at least isn't the firm favorite here? He has size and clearly better skills, even if he was no all-time.
It takes a genuinely elite HW to beat the Usyk of the Gassiev fight; who was 215lbs on fight and is 6'3.
Tyson destroyed a greater and better fighter moving up in weight than Usyk, and did so in 91 seconds. Honestly, I find Usyk unbelievably overrated in a historical content.
I don't see it. They're just better fighters than Usyk. The Spinks who destroyed Cooney would beat Usyk. Just a different class of fighter.
Disagree. The Spinks who beat Qawi was a different class to Usyk, but Mike wasn't some animal above HW. He beat a geriatric Holmes who hadn't looked genuinely impressive in years; looked average vs Tangstaad then poor vs Cooney. He got worse with every fight at heavyweight, as his knees degenerated and then obviously only turned up for a paycheck vs Tyson. If anything, I see nothing in Spinks above LHW to suggest he'd beat Usyk. Usyk at cruiserweight - it's yet to be seen what shape he's in for Joshua - was clearly quicker and more fluid than Spinks was after moving up, and clearly has a better chin. Furthermore, Spinks' jab was never effective vs southpaws. Look at the Wasajja and Pops fights. It's the backhand to the body and left hook which was what worked. His jab didn't land anywhere near as effectively as it did vs orthodox fighters. Usyk, the taller, longer man, has the style advantage. Being a southpaw proliferates these issues even more and Usyk's workrate and movement dwarfs HW Spinks'. And that's the Holmes version. The one who turned up for Tyson was a hot mess. Usyk would stop that version.
Briedis isn't an easy fight for anyone below 200lbs, and that includes Holyfield, Marciano and Louis.
