Taken from all transfers over the last three years. % changes in goals and assists per game when players move country. Seems to support the idea that the premiership is the strongest league & the german the weakest

well if you keep aggrandizing the offensive end of the Premiership.............and you keep combining the better attacking talents.....then sure, yeah.

Premier League is for sure the strongest in Europe right now, it's only been that way for the last four years or so though. Spain was way out in front for a long time, and it was reflected in their domination of both European competitions.

Watched the David Seaman doc on Sky, pretty good. Surely one of the nicest blokes in English football, and he was an R.

No I know, weirdly I actually found a post from 2011 or something yesterday where you'd posted it before, I was searching for something else at the time. We were all making jokes about Seaman's name :Jest:

There was a time when it was presumed that there was nobody to replace Peter Shilton. Chris Woods and Tim Flowers did their best to add to that belief. I think Seaman told over around 1993 under Graham Taylor but others kept getting their nose in. I think Englands keeper issues were never sorted out after he retired, TO THIS DAY TO THIS DAY!!

    Pickford a bum, I believe.

Yeah we had a really bad run of keepers after Seaman. When David James is your best choice for major tournaments you know you're in trouble. I thought Rob Green got a harsh deal after the USA game in 2010 but I mean yeah, the mistake was really fucking bad.

In the league I think Pickford is a mess but I have to say in big tournaments with England he's been excellent, especially last time out (apart from his shaky performance in the semifinal). Plus the guy actually saves penalties in shootouts, so he's got to stay imo.

I think the EPL tests guys more rigorously than the tournaments. I mean Pickford never faced a registered striker in the Croatia, Scotland and Slovakia games. Ukraine and Denmark he was up against Braithwaite and some lad called Isake or something.

Fucking Sterling. He's actually playing alright, taking people on and beating them, but he does the hard work and never passes or shoots. It's infuriating.

You'll never see a more overrated guy. Him and Grealish. Put Sterling in a poor side and he'll look just that. Football is a tripartite: win the ball, keep it, do something with it. He's 2/3.

Grealish looks like he's trying to test gravity all the time.

I thought Ingerland played pretty well for almost all of that until they scored, at which point Gareth did his usual conservative trick and backwards England went.

I've said it before and will say it again. Southgate is a very overrated manager. He's obviously well liked by the players and he's gotten some good results but I honestly feel like England are underperforming relative to the players they have. He's far, far too safe.

And don't get me started on Kyle Walker ffs lol

Agreed 100%. This is the best generation of England players in a long, long time and I feel they absolutely have the quality to win a tournament, but it's not going to happen under Southgate. The thing is, because of what he's done (semis, final etc) there's no way he will lose his job. Like you say he's way too conservative. Have some faith in your team man and go for it.

England have been transformed into a good pressing side with bundles of attitude and physicality. All down to Southgate. Who, as you say, will then doubt himself at the critical moment.
