Apparently, Bryant Jennings will face Oscar Rivas for the Bridgerweight title. How do people see this playing out? Not the match up, but this whole Bridgerweight thing. Seems like it will just become a haven for shit heavyweights to get belts.
That's exactly what it will be, but of course the reason behind is more belts equals more sanctioning fees. Same shit in world soccer. Always adding new trophies and competitions. It's simply more games equals more money, but they always make it sounds as if it's done purely for sporting reasons.
The fight itself is actually a good one. Rivas was very close to beating Whyte a while ago, and Jennings has some talent too. I have completely ignored title belts for several years now, and it seems it is about the time to ignore weight classes as well
I think it's important to distinguish between the WBA silver fedalatin mediumweight champion and the WBC interim titanium betweenweight titlist.
Bridgerweight is actually not a terrible division to make, far less silly than the 3 or 5 lbs difference in the lower weights. Still, the name is ridiculous and once again further dillutes the talent. A far better fix would have been to adjust a bit the CW limit
They're not trying to "fix" anything. None of these cunts wanna "fix" the sport. This is 110% about more sanctioning fees, and nothing more.
Will never happens, but it probably would be a.good.thing.if boxing falls so much, that the ufc starts a.boxing division. Sure their model is far.from perfect, but it's much better than the clusterfuck we have in boxing
Amateurs have only one sanctioning body, AIBA. If that example teaches us anything it seems to be that one dominant organization can be, if possible, even worse than the shit we are in now. Total and utter corruption and with way around it
