Tito Trinidad was, according to most, a great fighter or at least a borderline great. However he was twice made to look absolutely clueless in the ring, while in his prime.

Name some other examples. Prime greats who have been borderline embarrassed in some fight. One-punch KOs don't count, this is about whitewashes

Benitez made Duran look clueless. Duran was in shape too, so it really speaks to El Radar's talent.

Kalambay made McCallum look clueless in their first fight.

Spinks-Qawi fits the bill. Qawi was pretty competitive early, but it became more and more a one sided schooling in favor of Spinks.

Ezzard Charles has quite a few. The first Moore fight was undressing, and so was the first Burley fight.

I've always thought that fight was one of those examples of a bout that was competitive but not close. I felt a lot of the rounds were keenly fought, it was just Roy had that little bit extra that kept winning the rounds and piling up the points. Like, I couldn't say Toney looked "clueless", if that makes sense, even though the scorecards were really lopsided.

There was nada competitive about Jones-Toney. James didn't win any minute of any round.

Though he was past his prime, the way Monzon dismantled Griffith in their first fight was a highly impressive.

Sp8nks vs Tyson... Spinks could have done a lot better but was totally physically and emotionally overwhelmed, rather than tactically or skills wise.

Tua vs Byrd on the other hand... They say Tua is out there still, swinging away, to this day.

Disagree. Toney was landing some good shots, in fact I think he landed the best shot of the fight (barring the knockdown), this weird spinning right hand that caught Roy flush. The problem was he was only getting off one at a time where as Jones was constantly working and throwing combinations.

Toney was on a drip the week of that fight. I read a story that people at ringside could hear noises from his belly during the fight. He was getting shots just so he could piss.

The legend says that Locche shut out Cervantes in their first fight. If the legend is true, then that fight definitely applies here.

But since full footage of Locche-Cervantes 1 doesn't exist, we'll never know for sure if it was lopsided or not.

I think Leonard-Benitez belongs. Not that Benitez looked clueless, it was a great chessmatch, but Benitez didn't have much success at all.

Up until that fight, Benitez had always had a speed advantage over his opponents. Leonard consistently beating him to the punch really made things difficult for him.

Ohhh, we should have definitely mentioned Taylor-McGirt!

Mel made McGirt look like a total bum out there.

I'll try and get some local reports of Locche vs Cervantes I if you'd like. Quite possibly a few distant ones from papers working the fight.

    Will have a look-see.

It was a split decision though, and apparently many at ringside thought Donaire won.

I find that extremely hard to believe.

I find it hard to say there's three rounds Nonito won, let alone six.

I haven't watched Rigo-Donaire since the year it happened. From what I remember from seeing in live, and rewatching it, there was NOTHING close about it.

Perhaps I'll rewatch it though, to see if it was closer.
