    Julian Jackson vs Ricardo Mayorga

Yeah, it'd be fun for the grand total of 3 one sided rounds in lasts lol

    I also scored it 114-114.

It was one of those fights where you watch and it seems one guy (Paul) is taking more of a beating than the other, but wins the same amount of rounds.

Fighters lacking in defense and being too tough for their own good apply well here.

Trinidad-Margarito mentioned earlier is a perfect example. I think that would be something like Tito’s fight with Mayorga where Margarito lands some good shots from time to time but mostly just gets pummeled and takes an inhumane amount of punishment.

Yeah, Tito-Margarito would just be a prolonged version of Tito-Campas.

Prolonged because Margarito was way better than Campas. But in the end, he would have the same fate.

    Adding three more:

Cuevas-Maidana: Fun brawl while it lasts, but eventually Cuevas knocks Chino's head off.

Wilfredo Gomez vs Israel Vasquez: IZzy Vasquez would try hard, but Gomez ends him inside of 5.

Duran vs Castillo at lightweight: JLC would try his damnest, but would get beaten within an inch of his life

You take a soft puncher with a high workrate, and match him with a low level entertainer.

For instance, take Lightning Boy, Katsunari Takayama. Then throw him with Baby Jake Mtlata. You'd get an awesome fight which winds up being a beating.

Or another, less-hipster one. Take someone like Frank Fletcher or Caveman Lee. Someone whose gonna give it there all, but is levels below the opponent. Then throw them in with someone like Gene Fullmer. A mismatch, for sure. But who wouldn't wanna see Fullmer and Fletcher go toe-to-toe?

Dick Tiger vs Iran Barkley would be a fun mismatch. Well, not fun for Iran...

Sorry to do this to George but:

Mosley vs Hatton. Be fun while it lasts, Hatton would try, but Shane would brutally stop him.

Mosley vs. Gatti at any weight

Yeah, Mosley would kick Hatton's ass.

    Horrible, horrible match-up for him.

It was discussed at one point. Lucky for Gatti's health it didn't happen.

Pryor vs Gatti would be bad.

I don't see Maidana cuevas as a mismatch. Even if he does get koed, hes putting some hurt on Cuevas

Maidana was bounced up and down the canvas by Ortiz, nearly KO'd by Khan, buzzed by an ancient Morales, and went life and death with Soto Karass.

    Cuevas annihilates him.

Pipino really gets disrespected on here. His reign was extremely dominant and destructive, and over solid fighters too.

He had the misfortunate of running into the most devastating force in welterweight history, and suddenly he's close to Maidana level?

Cuevas was several levels above Maidana.

I really don't see it. Maidana had nearly a draw against pbf, cuevas stumbled hard against the 2 atg he fought against ( though to be honest, I don't think he looked too bad against Duran before the ko)

As i said,.even if cuevas wins ( and he should), this is not oned sided, nor a mismatch

Prime Cuevas would seriously injure the severely faded version of Floyd that Maidana faced.

But even still, we're also talking a matter of styles. Cuevas had far more firepower than Maidana, faster hands, and a better chin before Hearns altered it.

I don't think cuevas beat that version of floyd. He gives him a good match, but he's a bit too wild to wins it imo.

As for cuevas maidana, yes, everything points to a cuevas win, but it isn't a mismatch imo. Both would rock each other at some point.

I don't really think hearns altered cuevas, bar maybe it's confidence. You usually get ruined by prolonged beating, not a two rounds drubbing

Cuevas got faceplanted by a right hand that literally turned his body sideways. Of course he was never the same. Shit, Hagler wasn't the same after he fought Hearns and he WON!

Cuevas would be an extremely dangerous fight for an older Floyd, because he wasn't some methodical guy who picked his spots. He had a not give a flying fuck style and would hit his opponents anywhere to land that hook. That's actually the key to giving Floyd problems.

Ive always tought.boxing.fans.are way too eager to call.a.guy ruined after a ko. Against Hearns, cuevas takes many hard shot, but he's only really hurt at the end, and he got up early and his corner stopped it. I don't see this as a beating that can alteer your career (except confidence wise).

And yes, cuevas had the style to give pbf hell. Fast feet and reckless, but i think he lack a bit of finesse to get it done

We're talking the Floyd that Maidana faced. He was pretty damn old, and had lost a lot even from the Canelo fight.

Generally though yes, you would need a mix of pressure, skill, quickness, and creativity to beat a prime Floyd. I don't think I have to tell you who would be the ideal candidate lol.

  23. Jesus of montreal

Jesus of montreal WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

It was barely six.months after the Canelo fight. If there was a decline it was subtile. But maidana recklesness was the key to give pbf fit (i was one of the only one picking him iirc). And yes, prime duran absolutely brutalize that version of pbf

You know he's a total country bumpkin. The thing is how he ever got close to a boxing gym down there. His peak should have been wrangling cattle out in the pampas. Guy didn't even know what an Ipod was. A dumb rube.

    Oleg Maskaev vs Joe Frazier.

Sly would call this one a mismatch in favor of Oleg.

Man, i dont see this as fun. Maskaev is not catching frazier, and he doesn't had the chin to last long

Yeah, I agree. Not much action in that one. Just a one sided blowout. Joe is way too quick.

Jose Napoles vs Tim Bradley is good one.

Timmy would give it his all, but Napoles would batter him all over the ring.
