honestly i wouldnt be mad if the bears had taken rashawn slater over fields. i think fields can be very very good, perhaps great, but slater looks like a slam dunk all pro LT out of the gate. he locks on guys in pass pro and moves them in the run game. already an elite player at a top 3 position group in the NFL

he made ngakoue look like nothing, and the raidas gave up early on putting crosby on his side.

i do think dalton is serviceable. he's not moses moreno, craig krenzel, henry burris, todd collins, jonathan quinn, or kordell stewart.

lets face it though, he doesnt push the ball downfield. fields does, so its best to live with his rookie mistakes and let him get experience and grow. hopefully next year the two rookie tackles are healthy and ready to compete for starting spots.

although Im pleased with the bears getting Fields, if they would have picked Rashawn slater at that spot I wouldnt be mad either. They'd be a contender right now with him and either dalton or foles at QB with the way their defense is playing. kid is a legit all pro level left tackle and would transform the bears offensive line from suspect to one of the best in the league. would have also opened up their second round pick to select rondale moore.

slater basically neutralized Myles garrett and shut down chase young in week 1. kid is a monster who also moves ppl in the run game.
