Aguero I could see, although I do have a feeling they're gonna go for someone big and in their prime. Maybe I was getting a little carried away with Kane, and it probably won't be an elite player like that at this stage, but it'll be someone good and well-known.

When Chelsea got the big money, they gave Ranieri a season and then they got Mourinho in and went fuckin mental in the transfer market, where as City was a slower build. I'm not sure what approach Newcastle will take but I think they will splash the cash in January. A) for the aforementioned statement signing(s) and B) to ensure they stay up.

Mental back then- it's 17 years ago- was £25m- £30m.

Torres was "BIG MONEY"- £26.5 in 2007.

Remember that Christmas transfer window with Torres going to Chelsea for a £50m and Carrol and Suarez going to Liverpool for a combined figure that was about the same :Jest:

Charlie Adam was rumoured to be on his way, Jim Gray in the air in the fucking chopper ha ha

I still find it mad that Chelsea paid all that money for Torres. Whilst he was at one point the best striker in the world, it was clear as day to anyone, including us on here, that he just wasn't the same player any more. Be it injury or confidence he was in an obvious and rapid state of decline. I saw an interview with Carragher where he said he was amazed Chelsea were willing to pay that much for him.

Staveley has made it clear that it is going to be a slow build. She's talking of five years to get up to speed.

It'll just be nice to go to the game again. I have an eleven year old nephew who has never been to SJP. I haven't been in a decade.

Apparently Dele Alli is dating Pep's daughter so City might sign him in January and sell him to a club from one of those in August.

They are idiots, obviously. But you have to understand. This is as much about getting rid of Mike Ashley as it is anything else. NUFC was a dead club. Dead. It had a policy of deliberately not competing for anything. It had abandoned any pretence of sporting competition. It was a hollowed out, empty husk, owned by a man who had responded to the desperation of fans by making decisions deliberately calibrated to piss them off. A vindictive cunt of a man. There is not one NUFC fan who didn't want to see him disappear. And now he has gone.

Yes, there are a lot of serious questions about the Saudis. They are obviously horrible, horrible cunts. I know what they are about. But why should NUFC fans be held to the highest moral standards about these people when everyone else seems not to give a shit. The PIF holds part ownership of Facebook, Twitter, Starbucks, Disney...why are none of these do-gooders rallying around these companies to tell them to tell the Saudis to fuck off? The UK Government sells more arms and munitions to these bastards than practically any other country, and does so knowing what they do with them in Yemen etc. Why should NUFC fans be asked about the morals of Saudis when the UK Government is given a pass to sell the same people the very weapons they use to kill others? What about the Queen, who has horse trainers and stables in Saudi? What about the BBC, who are giving it loads about 'human rights' but had no bother fronting up license fee money to radio broadcast the Joshua - Ruiz fight from the middle of fucking nowhere and who will doubless have Gary, Alan and the rest of the crew sitting in a smashing part of Qatar next year for a world cup so corrupt that most of the FIFA stooges who awarded it have faced criminal charges over it? Will they be talking about the thousands of dead, effectively slave laborers who built the very stadiums they'll be cheering Kane and Co on from? The list is endless...

I'm happy to have a discussion with anyone about the merits of this, and I'm not comfortable over it myself, but I'm not going to be judged by a double standard. And nor should any other NUFC supporter.

Agreed 100%. I am just adopting the Socratic method.

When the Oiks get their hands on big dirty money, it's suddenly a problem.

Absolutely. As I said all along, if this lot had just bought Man Utd or Arsenal, it would be met with universal acclaim, people falling over themselves to celebrate this fantastic new 'investment and regeneration'.

But it's Newcastle, so instead it's endless interviews with that poor women whose journalist husband was murdered instead.

When the BBC start getting on to Chelshit and Man City about the packs of absolute bastards who bankroll them, I'll start to take them nor seriously. Be a long wait.

Well no, because you see that won't be "the right time for something like that."

It's a complicated delicate issue blah blah.

As long as they're getting paid that there's no mention or it's back to the "complexities". If they wouldn't be collecting a penny of all that cash, human rights abuses are absolutely intolerable in any circumstances and the issue is simple and straight forward all of a sudden.

I liked The Mirror Football page and thought it might be nice to read a few of their stories during the week on Facebook.

They write a fucking story every 20 minutes all day, every day. And when Ronaldo signed with Man U, make it every ten minutes. Horseshit stories about anything. What did Paul Scholes teammates think of him during the '98 season and how many have changed their minds now? Six managers that could take over Man United TOMORROW and win the league. David Beckham's new car!

ESPN is bad with Man United "stories". I'm assuming they're the biggest and most well known football club for U.S. fans?

It seems they'll throw up anything if it's even remotely related to the club hoping the name alone in the headline will get clicks. Some guy who played in their youth team 20 years ago and now is a fringe player on some Australian club gets into trouble:

"Ex Manchester United prospect arrested for DUI in Melbourne"

    Who the fucks cares?

The BBC is at it too.

Sir Alex Ferguson BOMBSHELL: always play your best side.

    fergie2.png

Sir Alex Ferguson on Cristiano Ronaldo benching at Man Utd: 'You should always start with your best players'

Of course, it;'s all bullshit but worse than that, it;'s SHIT journalism.

2009. United are going for IT ALL. 5 tournaments- League, Fa Cup, League Cup, World Club Cup and Champions League.

FA Cup Semi Final vs Everton.

    Start your best side, RIGHT?

Wrong. Instead, it's "Changes, as expected".

But today Fergie is lauded as this "start your best side" genius.

That kind of "reporting" has been rampant for quite some time now. Famous ex-player/manager is quoted (context being irrelevant) it's presented as a story. Virtually anything they say is newsworthy, but especially so of it's something negative. Now people will have to say something.

It's not unlike how faceshit operates. It's about "engagement". Views/clicks/replies/talk whatever you want to categorize it as.

For example this thing you posted with Ferguson. Here's what they know will happen:

One reaction will be: "That guy is absolutely right! He knows what he's talking about. Look at the trophies, the success. When he talks you should listen!"

Other reaction: "He hasn't been the manager of a club for forever. He's not in the dressing room. Football changed since he was around. What about the times he's done X or Y? He should just shut the fuck up"

Point is it doesn't matter what the reaction is. It's that there was one.

Agreed. At any given PL or BundesLiga game of football there no more than 28 dudes who will play.

At that arena, on that day, there may be up to 80,000 people.

    Then the Press Corps.

    Then the live audience.

28 guys took part. MILLIONS were suckered into thinking that they had a say, and that their say must be heard/noted etc.

It's an industry of hot air.

Take a look at the press today. The rest of Ingerland shitting itself as NUFC threatens to punch it's weight again.

Tell NUFC fans we were wrong. This is why you will see no apologies among our fans.

Understand why these people fear this. Chelsea and Shitty were nothing clubs. NUFC will always be better and bigger than them. It has been fifty years since NUFC punched it's weight. Look at the fear, now.

From what I have been reading on forums, and seeing in the press, the takeover at Newcastle has had a Mark Twain's "The Million Pound Bank Note" effect.
