The Twitter intel when Ange arrived was that all the stints he'd had previously had played out remarkably similarly. Initial chaos as players adapted to a very specific and high risk system. A serious hiding or two in every case. The first green shoots being a big ramping up in attacking output measured by xG. Check. Then a big upward trend in possession stats. Check. All of this without any initial improvement in defence. That finally coming togethet late in the first season before the each team became absolute units in season two. The fact that's all playing out like clockwork so far gives me serious confidence in this geezers methods. Celtic with the highest shots per game & 3rd highest possession stats of all 32 teams in the europa league - still shipping daft goals and chances but already some early signs of things solidifying as players learn how to respond in transitions etc.

I've just inherited a vast fortune and will purchase the Celtic football club. Rather than using my wealth to place them among Europe's elite I'm going to institute the harshest austerity measures the world has ever seen. I will make Mike Ashley look like Santa Claus.

I'm going to pay Paul Ryan vast sums of money to give motivational speeches to the players. (whose wages have been cut) I'm also going to raise ticket prices and have Paul Ryan tell the fans to work harder to be able to afford them.

Random question for all the football fans: Would Pele still be a dominant player today?

Every sport evolves and while football is "simpler" (tactics, technology and so on) than most comparing the 1960's with today and the world landscape is near impossible. Even though it's always been a world sport, it was much more segregated by continent, and then a bit further down by country etc. There wasn't the aggregation of elite talent playing against each other on a regular basis.

He wouldn't be scoring 10 million trillion goals or whatever numbers they attribute to him had such a thing existed. With that said, he was still the best player in the world for his time there's not really much debate about it. He's still considered by many as the GOAT. I'm a firm believer that the absolute best would thrive in any era so Pele shouldn't be any different.

Would he be as dominant? Probably not but who really knows. Yeah things have changed a lot but he played in the 1960's, not the 1760s.

Yeah, pretty much what Whiskey said. I think Pele is slightly overrated in a historical context in that many still consider him the best ever and I would say there have definitely been better footballers emerge since his time. Where as I still consider Maradona the GOAT and I don't think anyone has surpassed him yet. Saying that, in his era Pele was far and away the best, and he would still be a great player today.

Bellingham scored a really nice goal today. That's great news because it means if he keeps playing really well and getting attention it's another young talent that will be sold to a richer club.

There's nothing more exciting in football than thinking about those future transfer fees.

Rafa's absolute INSISTENCE on playing Soloman Rondon is going to get him unemployed very soon. The guy wouldn't make any League One club right now and he's getting 90 minutes a game for Everton since DCL got injured. It's Twilight Zone shit. The fans have been disgusted for weeks.

I think Rafa is in a similar position to Southgate with Kane in the Euros. If he pulls him now, everyone will say "We were right all along. What the fuck took you do long?" So he's just intent on playing him hoping he'll do something to shut everyone up and calm them down. In this case, he's pissing into the wind now. Rondon's not fit to play the sport right now let alone make an impact at Premier League level. Rafa needs to swallow his pride, give the guy his walking papers and admit this was a terrible lapse in judgment.

In all his time in charge of NUFC, nothing happened like that which happened today under Rafa's watch. Could barely believe it.

Rondon was absolutely quality for NUFC under Rafa. Just before he lost patience with Fat Mike, Benitez had finally built a team he had been writing towards, with Almiron and Perez buzzing around Robson, who scored and made goals in almost every game he played.

That'll be why Rafa is working around him. Of course, that was like three years ago...

It never happened under Rafa at Liverpool either.

We never took a lead at Anfield and lost by 3 fucking goals. Never.

Today was the very very worst of the Prem.

    The very worst.

Godfrey has been a nightmare since he came back from COVID. He said in an interview (admitting he's been horseshit) that he feels like he's playing football in someone else's body.

When Ole is sacked later today, I hope all these media cunts will be pressing the claim for one Steve Bruce to take the reigns. He's a Man Utd legend, after all, and he's just been cruelly forced out of his last post by ungrateful serfs who can't see what a great job he's done.

    Aye?

You will hear fuck all from Neville who has gilded his shitty little nest with many virtuous feathers derived from the Steve Bruce affair.

The abiding hallmark of all these elites- and Neville very much intends to be just that- is that they do not want to ever live with the ramifications of THEIR ideology.

Instead, they want YOU to live with the ramifications of their ideology.

So somebody ELSE needs to carry the fucking can for Steve Bruce.

Somebody ELSE must suffer the ignominy of his ineptitude or just plain lack of vision and talent.

It won't be them or theirs.

    Neville wants Black managers etc.

Fine. Go fucking hire Paul Ince, right? Another guy he's been banging on about.

Go hire Chris Hughton. Go hire Darren Moore. Go scalp Valerien Ismael from West Brom right now.

He'll never do it cos he knows it's all bollox. He wants best international practise at his end of affairs and he wants box-ticking and niceties from every other sod.

Fuck you Pogba you piece of shit- I never liked that cunt, ever.

Will there be much outrage about what he has done to promising "African player" who was just showing some progress?

    No. Of course not.

For the same reasons that Ronaldo wasn't sent off.

    Fucking bullshit.

5-0 IDGAF you need sorting Pogba.

Right. I said he'd be off by Christmas and he will.

But will there be outrage for Keita?

Few words maybe from Sir Alan on MOTD but that's it.

They'll be so tempered with their criticism.

"Oh what Pogba did is not the story of this game".

    It is for Keita.

    Chelsea must be raging.

Rack up 7 yesterday and then eye the table and thinking Liverpool have got to drop points.

Not only didn't drop points but eroded Chelsea's gains on GD too............. :Jest:
