Surprised they haven't gone in for Donkey-Teeth Rodgers. A decent mutual fit, I would have thought

Wow, Blackburn got annihilated. Our 4-1 loss to Fulham doesn't look quite as bad now.

Looks like it's going to be Eddie Howe. Can't say I'm overwhelmed by that.

Cetic held on. Vital win for them.

Leverkusen destroyed Betis, and will destroy Celtic, so it all comes down to the Celtic vs Betis game.

Gonna end up ruing that 2 goal lead in Betis.

As before - Celtic two central midfielders away from being really pretty decent. Turnbul & Bitton should be playing at Aberdeen or Hibs. Injured Rogic is a decent impact sub or squad player. Like that weird screwdriver attachment you're occasionally delighted to dust off but usually leave in the box. McCarthy came on and looked much fitter and more assured but had, until the last 20 minutes, looked unpickable. McGregor's bountiful attributes mostly squandered in the more attacking role he deputised in tonight.

But if big Ange avoids dying of covid or a heart attack we're laughing this time next year

This may sound deluded but....dont totally rule us out over there. They got all the luck they'll ever get against us in that last game, we could get a bounce or two and get a draw. Iirc we had more possesion and more shots than them last time and it wouldve been even more favourable before we gave up the ghost after that bullshit penalty ~70m in

I don't think it's a terrible appointment, possibly better than having a very poor communicator (in English) like Emery in your side during what will turn out to be a relegation dogfight most likely...it's tricky because it's a championship team at the moment, they should try to nab a proven veteran goalscorer or two and some defensive reinforcements to set them up for some important ties from Feb onwards...if they survive, time to think more long term and that extends to manager. Another problem is that they have no senior football people making decisions, Mr and Mrs Staveley?

Howe is not at all the worst appointment and you're right....he might be the man for a relegation scrap.
But its ,ahem, how it went down. It smelled of settling for a day out at Butlins after that proposed trip to Harrods fell through.

We'll see. Leverkuson are righfully favourites but Celtic have goals in them. We had the higher post-shot xg 3/4 in to that last game when we lost the penalty. Ive never seen a more unrepresentative scoreline in person and ive been to many hundred games. A richochet here, a flat performance there and everyone who just glanced at the scoreline last time will scratch their heads, mystified! I give us about a 40% chance of getting a draw or better. In which case we'll give ourselves a chance vs Betis at home in the final game. Under the lights, packed parkhead....Im just a junky chasing that hit, ch'mone!

I don't know if United have made adjustments but they've managed to turn this into a scrappy dogged affair and limited City to OG's and OG chances rather than clearcut opportunities.

For their own part they've had two genuine sighters.

I still fancy United to get something out of this, one way or the other.

City have not been with it, they've just been with it a bit more than United.

Donny Van Der Beek coming on now.

Sancho came on at Half Time for Bailly.

How has Ole not been sacked? Are United just fed up replacing manager after manager?

United are 5 points behind 4th place.

    That's broadly why.

    He's not been sacked because there are other reasons like sentimentalism, which isn't really sentimentalism as much as it is a desire not to be seen to be wrong and having entrusted £400m to somebody who didn't perform {again}

I don't actually think he deserves to be fired per se. The real threat to his position is that he's spent a lot and achieved RELATIVELY very little.

The reason I couldn't care less if he was is because he's an annoying little sprite who tries to bullshit people.

Ronaldo probably explains a lot and explains how rank corporatism is at work.

The "Riot" or "Invasion" or whatever at Old Trafford last Season was done because United are not competing.

It had nothing to do with the actual fiscal situation at United. United fans never cared about that as long as they won stuff.

Everytime United find themselves in a bit of bother, the LUHG scarves make an appearance.

How the fuck can you spend £100 on a ticket and then wear LUHG stuff to a United game?

So the Glazers pulled a stroke- they went out and re-signed Ronaldo - and the plebs in the Media , and Ronaldo himself to be fair, played their part.

Suddenly it was salad days again.

    Except it wasn't.

So the fans are sat there saying "Olly brought us back Ronnie, he deserves a chance". Or they are sat there saying "Olly had Ronnie forced on him, it's not his fault, he wanted a striker".

And the owners are saying "Fuck, if we fire Olly, he's getting a massive payday, there's NO GUARANTEE the next guys is any better and it's making us look daft"

So you get the hacks like Neville on board and it's "This is Man United. We don't treat our own like this. Fergie needed 6 years, Olly had 3".

And between all these lines bounces along our delightful little Nordic sprite, immune to and innured from the same pressures that had better-performing managers like Farke and Smith fired .

That's largely why he is still there. Plus there is a feeling that he hasn't totally spunked the family Silver on rubbish. The players are talented enough. They're just lazy, unafraid feckless little shits, but their resale value is high.

Right so when it doesn't happen it's because Rodgers wanted to wait until the end of the Season. Come back at the end of the Season. By which stage we will have a new BS story for you as this one is forgotten.

Another thing to wrap tomorrows chippy in. This was, legitimately, why howe to Celtic collapsed....if its true he's taking loyalty to quite an extreme. Maybe his mates have got a peetape on him.
