Canelo isn't small for 168, he's about 185 in the ring, but going up to CW is definitely a risk; I think it's a calculated one as they will try and drain Makabu, who isn't very good. Benavidez is supposedly mandated to fight Lemiuex in a final eliminator for Canelo's WBC title.
No doubt, it's sickening to see those top contenders fighting garbageman after garbageman in the hope of winning the Canelo lottery (just like Plant did) instead of earning it. Still, I do feel Benavidev would be willing to face a top guy bu he basically has no willing dance partner.
agREED... Canelo's SHORT for '68, But That Shouldn't Be Mistaken for SMALL... Qawi Wasn't a SMALL Light Heavy Either, He was Just SHORT for the Weight Class... REED
Yeah, definitely not small. Just short. And it seems for whatever reason, every so often, you get a really short fighter who excels when moving up in weight. Walker, Langford, Qawi, Canelo, etc
225 lb. Pabstlik blasting people saying Canelo is cherry-picking while pointing out prime Roberto Duran as WBA champion fought an 0-3 Acuna
I think some of us tend to romanticize the great fighters of the 80's and 90s as if what they did was better than today's fighters. Many Mexicans love Chavez but blast Canelo for cherry picking. But if you look closely at Chávez record his record he fought some horrible opponents. Not just as a prospect building up a record but also as a champ and after or before big fights. Guys with 0-3 records. That's what Pavlik meant.
Why don't they cut makubu like the Emperor cut Spaniard in Gladiator? Or keep him awake for 72 hours. Or... Blind him!! Just blind him!!! Then see how good he is!!
